SS09: Clinique First Blush

Tuesday, January 20th, 2009

clinique first blush

Watch out for February 1st, when this little lot from Clinique will be on counter. It’s the First Blush collection and contains lots of lovely goodies like the new Quick Blush, €32, which has the blush built into the cap, making it portable and handy for lugging about in your handbag. There are also two limited edition Fresh Bloom shadows, €22.50 each, one of which is ideal for the pink eye look Lynnie instructed us on last week.

The third innovation in the collection is a new mascara. High Impact Curling Mascara, €19, comes in black and “provides intense volume plus extreme curl for 24 hours of long-wearing, non-smudging, eye-opening drama.” It’s removable with water, too.

You’ll also be able to pick up glosswear, quickliner for eyes and a new limited edition of Happy: Happy In Bloom Perfume Spray and Lip Compact will be €69.00.

SS09: MAC Chill

Mac chill

Bit of a misnomer calling this MAC collection their definitive one for SS ’09, because of course, knowing MAC, it’ll be anything but. We already know about the forthcoming Hello Kitty line, and there’s lots more to come as well, like a great collection aimed at blondes, brunettes and redheads due out in February.

Chill is the current offering and is worth a Spring Summer-series nod, not only because of that fab she-is-a-model-and-she’s-looking-good / Barbarella-in-the-far-north pic above, but also because it’s got some very nice stuff in it.

SS09 Makeup: Yves Saint Laurent Pure Colour

YSL

Pure Colour is right. Saturated shades abound in the Yves Saint Laurent spring summer collection, and I’m firmly smitten.   Like Guerlain and Clarins‘ offerings, we’re seeing pretty pastel eyes and luscious lips, and the more of these collections I see, the more I become convinced that it’s candy girl all round for me in the next few months.

YSL always have limited edition star products, and this season it’s those two compacts you can see above. They’re Palette d’Artiste for eyes and complexion, and cost €51 a pop. Also pictured are juicy-looking Gloss Pur wands in six new basic shades, which are on counter now for €28. There’s lots more going on too – check after the cut for the lowdown.

SS09: Chanel’s Sophisticated Bohemian Fantasy Spring Makeup Collection

chanel

One of the most notable things about all the new season collections are the amount of deep, autumnal shades, which tips us the nod that goth-glam is here to stay – well, for another season at least. Unusual for spring summer, yes, but this is fashion, and sure we’re well used to its vagaries.

Chanel’s new products are a case in point. Sophisticated and elegant as you’d expect, they’re also very wearable.  Put January 19th in your diary and start saving for the subtle smokey shades that are the order of the day in the Mystic Eyes shadow quad, €44.50. There’s also a great new nail colour, Le Vernis  in Vendetta, above. Great name! €21 is the damage here, and you’ll also be able to pick up Django, a pale pink. There are a host of other new products and shades on-counter like creamy Rouge Hydrabase lipsticks, €25, in six colours, as well as gloss, blush and eye pencil.

But we haven’t shown you the star of the show yet – check after the cut for the exclusive creation.

SS09: Bobbi Brown Brights and Much More

Bobbi Brown brights

We’ve seen sneaky peeks at Bobbi Brown’s forthcoming – and nicely surprising – Bobbi Brights palette in the beauty blogosphere, but now we’ve got the lowdown on the whole collection.  Inspired by the ‘fun kit’ she uses during fashion week, the lady herself says, “the idea behind Bobbi Brights is simple.  It’s a library of beautiful bolts of colour that  a woman can pick up anytime she wants  to add a little fun to her look.”

The fold-out palette contains 35 matte shadows in brights from pinks to greens and blues. €60 is the surprisingly small damage here, but that’s not all the brightness on offer. The full collection – on counter in March – will also feature four Creamy Lip Colours, €22.50, in eye-catching shades, as well as six new Lip Glosses, €21.50, which snap into her custom palettes.

Fancy getting a Bobbi Brown fix before March? Check after the cut for two February launches.
