FLABuLESS: They’re like Spanx… for yer arms.

Regardless of how awkward they make a trip to the bathroom and irrespective of the threat that you might someday actually have to be cut out of them (yes, it happens), most of us aren’t going to be giving up our magic super-control industrial strength knickers anytime soon. They’re a real “Sure, I’ll become a Natural Beauty and stop wearing them, Gok. WHEN HELL FREEZES OVER!!!” undergarment, indispensible for office parties or first dates or school reunions or bumping into ex-boyfriends at weddings.

I’m not sure that I can see FLABuLESS compression sleeves going quite the same way. Shapewear for arms, these are available in 3/4- and full-sleeve lengths and promise to suck in bingo wings and other such un-taut areas of concern. They can only do that, of course, by encapsulating your arms – which means that if you’re planning to wear a little strappy number, your compression sleeves will be on display. Umm, now I know that the idea is to give a more streamlined silhouette, but if you’re going to be covering them up anyway is there *that* much difference in wearing a shrug cardi?

Good news, Gok fans: He’s baaaa-aaack!

gok

He’s the man who’d like you to befriend your bangers and strut your stuff, girlfren’, and now Gok has teamed up with Myleene Klass to present Miss Naked Beauty on Channel 4 (Tuesdays at 8pm, beginning tonight). This is a six-part beauty contest that basically aims to strip women of all artificial aids and enhancements – no fake tan, no chicken fillets and no Spanx allowed, eek – to find a 21st-century Eve, an ambassador for natural, naked beauty: a woman who is happy in her own skin.

The eventual winner won’t just get a snazzy sash and a crown, by the way. Oh no. She’ll be a woman on a mission – writing a regular magazine column to get the natural beauty message across, becoming the face of a new modelling agency, and reporting into Gok on the next series of How To Look Good Naked with updates on how the campaign to help women rediscover their inner beauty is being received.

What think ye of the premise of the new show? Will you be tuning in? And will we all be empowered to ditch our foundation and magic knickers in six weeks’ time?
