Stop Press: Girls Aloud Eyelashes now on sale!!!

Girls Aloud

Umm… so is it really, really wrong that I gave a little shriek of excitement when news that the Girls Aloud/Eylure collaboration is now in store arrived in my Inbox?

That’s right, you can now get your sweaty li’l paws on those falsie eyelashes designed by Cheryl and Co. that we gave you the heads up about away back last month. Priced at £5 a pair (so probably what, €40?) and currently available in Superdrug*, they’ll be available to buy online from ASOS.com from April 20th. (And I know adhesive’s included, but invest in a Daycent Eyelash Glue to stop them springing free of your lashline and drifting down your cheek and into your cocktail while you’re fluttering away like some demented butterfly.)

Given that she’s the best known lash wearer of the group, I was expecting to be lusting after La Cole’s offerings, but actually it’s Kimberley’s and Nicola’s lashes that I’m considering splashing the cash on. Long, delicate and fluttery looking, they’re my kind of falsies. The other three pairs look a bit too dense and spiky for my liking, now, but overall I’m pretty impressed by the range – more subtle and less showgirl than anticipated.

Good job, ladies!

* R.O.I. Superdrug stores: Santry, Tallaght, Wexford, Limerick, Letterkenny.

These look lovely, but I’m now terrified of false lashes… I put on some individual inserts for the first time about two weeks ago, and I certainly didn’t have any problems with them drifting down my face!! In fact the glue was probably a bit too effective, I lost half my own lashes trying to get the falsies off!! and they weren’t even sparse to begin with, I just fancied a bit of drama…

does anyone have any tips for regrowing eyelashes??

  • Efa says:

Oh these look great! I’m impressed! I was expecting lots of glitter/feathers/colour!

  • Kirstie says:

I am guessing Eylure couldn’t afford frou-frou rhinestones for a fiver!

  • tcup says:

    eep! wansies!!

  • Lynnie says:

Oh no Pixie, disaster! Maybe try Talika Lipocils, xgirl got good results with it:

I accidentally stuck falsies onto my own lashes rather than my eyelids last weekend… took a loooong soak of a warm facecloth & a birrov Vaseline to get them off safely.

  • Olaola says:

LOVE Kimberley and Nicola’s lashes… and, ummm… doesn’t Sarah look a bit off in this picture? No? It’s just me?…

  • Hannah says:

Olaola – she looks a bit hard…like a young Pat Butcher. I can’t tell the diff. between Cheryl’s and Sarah’s.

  • Hannah says:

For some reason whenever I think of false lashes I am reminded of Itsy & Bitsy – my fav childhood puppets from the 70s. Does anyone remember them? And I’m afraid I would probably look like them too if I tried these.

    Ooh I want Nicola’s!
Why must they be on sale in Superdrug – that’s just being awkward!

    Very excited nonetheless!!

  • Olaola says:

Hannah, to be honest, now that I took a closer look at the pictures, they all look pretty worn out, like they’ve been crying/hungover/both… surprising, considering I think all of them look incredible and very fresh most of the time. Bah, suppose I could find something better to think about! ;)

  • tina says:

Olaola – it’s just terrible photoshopping, that’s why they all look a bit off, too much airbrushing!

I don’t know, sometimes I think I’d like to try them, but then, don’t false lashes look, errr, false?? I saw someone call them chav lashes ;)

  • Olaola says:

Tina, depends what kind of lashes you get, I myself am no expert having only tried them a few times, but there are some very natural looking out there. Especially if you trim them to fit your eye properly!

As for all the photoshopping… it can be your worse enemy as well as best friend then, I suppose ;)

  • Flame says:

I tried false eyelashes once and i did like them but found them really long. Would love to get a pair that were normal length but really thick, think that’d look great.

  • tina says:

Olaola – actually, I just remembered how once I saw a MAC SA put false lashes on a customer and the girl looked really nice with them on. The SA cut the lashes so they weren’t too long and she also did her eye make up (just some eye liner). I was surprised to see how great it looked. I think I might try that for the next special occassion. I doubt I’d be able to put them on well myself!

  • Olaola says:

It takes a few applications, Tina… mine were completely wonky the first time I tried to put them on myself :D A proper adhesive is a must, too, otherwise you’ll just spend a long time fiddling with it for nothing.
I am sure it’s worth to have someone apply them for you the first time though – just to check if you like the look!

  • AMMO4 says:

Cant believe they are making us think that each girl wears these exact lashes or am i been cynical

I’ve got Nicola’s pair, and they’re a lot more natural-looking than the others. Nicola’s also my fave member of Girls Aloud, so there’s another reason why I bought Nicola’s pair!
