Detox danger. Beat the sugar rush with Craving Essence?

Having an opportunity to watch daytime telly yesterday I became engrossed in an item on the Afternoon Show.

Jan de Vries was giving advice on how to detox and lose weight. No matter that most of his advice involved taking products from his own range of Vogel herbal remedies. Which did make his words of wisdom a leetle bit biased.

craving-essence.gifBut he did recommend something which sounded intriguing – Craving Essence. Sugar is the most difficult thing to give up (even harder than cigarettes and alcohol) and produces the most enormous cravings. Other supplements like chromium also claim to get this chemical craving for sugar under control.

Craving Essence is made from flower and herb tinctures and makes different claims. Apparently it will help you to deal with feelings of self disgust brought about from over indulgence and help you to get back in control and beat those nasty habits.

If you’re a fan of Bach Rescue Remedy you’re sure to like this idea and you can pick up a bottle from health food stores for about a fiver. Head over to the Afternoon Show website where Jan gives more advice on dealing with addictions.

do they make one for crisps??

  • Aphrodite says:

If you have an unhealthy craving for crisps combined with feelings of loathing and self disgust for opening another bag of Tayto, then Craving Essence may be your only man

  • Kitty Cat says:

oh I really want crisps now…

  • Aphrodite says:

crisps crisps crisps crisps crisps crisps

  • Admin says:

    hah, must try it so.

  • Glitterkitty says:

one of the most relevant questions i’ve heard in a long time, admin!
and thank god there may be an answer too!

  • Admin says:

I think it’s called willpower GK – and it’s precisely why I am a size 16. Oh well!

  • dellie says:

thanks a mil for that. reminded me that i have a tub of chromium in my drawer that i need to get back in the habit of taking. sent it on to my sis to who has given up the fags today!

i am more determined than ever this yr to shift the weight and get down to size 12!

  • Aphrodite says:

    Dellie – you will!

  • Gingerrama says:

    “Everything in moderation, including moderation.”
Except for chocolate. No moderation there – just lots of the lovely darkest of dark stuff – and a bit of counterbalancing through going swimming.

Boo hiss to all this detox business, surely it’s just an excuse to kickstart the finances of assorted quacks who were on the verge of being affected by the Current Situation and potential customers being in danger of starting to spend more sensibly?

Also: crisps need drinks. Anyone solved that one, other than “the only way to get rid of temptation is to yield to it?”

Noooo, coffee is the hardest to give up!! Never mind Dairy milk – gimme a latte :)

  • Millie says:

  • Kitty Cat says:

cheese and onion walkers. mmm all in my belly.

  • Millie says:

and then 2 leelte milk tray sweets, just to get the taytos stuck in my teeth out

  • Millie says:

    make that leetle

  • Kitty Cat says:

oh the powerful combination that is chocolate and crisps…

  • sweetie says:

And the post was supposed to be about detox, not temptations ;)

  • Millie says:

    its my downfall
    ah well !

  • Millie says:

    oops sorry about that

  • Kitty in the City says:

I once read that drinking cider vinager in water before a meal helped cut down on salty cravings. I’m definitely more of a crisps girl than a chocolate girl. Can’t say I’ve done it for long enough to know whether or not it works, I forget to do it a lot.

  • hockeystick says:

was just at WW class … and they are starting a new program and its all about “filling foods” and cutting back on sugar and salt .. processed foods in general really. but the leader said sugary foods are the worst as they affect your blood sugar, never satisfy you and leave you tired and hungry much faster than foods high in protein and fibre … apparently if you can cut them out for a week you will stop craving them … i am giving it a go …

  • Ruth says:

its true about cuttng them out, then the cravings will stop…have done it before, and even now, as i was sick over christmas, i wasnt eating sweet stuff, and im not craving it or anything since i got back to work..its great…

  • sweetie says:

hockeystick, it actually works – I wasn’t eating sweet stuff for a whole month, and, honestly, I don’t really crave choccies any more, but, if they are in front of me, my silly hands still reach out :( But, then again, taste isn’t as tempting anymore.
Kitty, I’ve heard that cider vinegar stops fats from being absorbed from the food… Never tried it tho, might give it a go.

  • sweetie1 says:

Ya cutting them out def works.

I go off choc every year for lent….but by the time easter comes around I don’t choc at all, I can’t even eat much choc by then, only a small bit or i’ll feel sick! (Doesn’t always stop me though!)

  • sweetie says:

Sweetie1, it makes me sick too!! And never on an empty tum, or cramps will kill me :(

  • adiaha says:

Thank you for this information. I am addicted to sugar. It does a number on my self esteem not to be able to control my cravings. I am very interested in finding out more about the tincture, Craving Essence. Is it sold in the US?
