My organic shower gel series is drawing to a close. Oh no! It can’t be finishing, I hear you wail.
It was the highlight of our week, some of you may sob.
Anyway ditch the sarcasm people and hold on to the handrail for I have saved the best for last.
They were all fruity, yummy and literally bursting with juciness. But the Lavera is by far the juciest and yummiest. I’ve lathered my way through the orange ‘flavour’ -totally divine.
In the interests of fairness I tested only orangey/citrussy gels (which by a happy “coincidence” are my favourites). Then comparing and contrasting – and backing up with examples – in the true spirit of my Leaving Certificate years I compared organic credentials.
All three organic gels did well, I liked them all (click on the links to read my reviews), so I will rate them in a handy cut out n keep format :
- Essential Care: impeccable organic credentials, soft subtle fragrance.
- Organic Surge : inexpensive and fresh – a favourite with the husband can you believe
- Lavera: I said I liked them all, but I liked this one the best. Fantastic organic brand, this wins all the awards for a reason. Yummers.
You can buy the Lavera shower gel in a host of ‘flavours’, together with it’s matching body lotion for around €16 – €17 for the two (V good price). Buy from good health stores or online from Beaut.ie faves LoveLula or EvenOne.
Now what do you suggest I investigate for my next series? What would you like me to daringly try. (Note: I will only accept suggestions of niceness – e.g. no hair removal creams, for I will tell you now all of them stink and I hate them).

I may try the Lavera – it sounds yummy.
Aphrodite, my vote for what you could daringly try next would be face masks or salon pedicures next (latter is definitely a suggestion of niceness as you’d get to experience some pampering!).
Twinkletoes I am liking this suggestion!
yes thats a good idea and u cud then rate the salons for hygiene
I found I needed to use a lot of the Lavera, so it was gone in no time, but otherwise it was good. And the lotions are lovely. I have the one in the green tube at the moment and it smells exactly like green Opal Fruits, or should I say Starbursts, not to give away my age
xgirl I heard Starburst are going back to Opal Fruits again!
girls, please do organic shampoos, would love to know if any of the ones i see in the health food shop – dr h, weleda, jason etc are any good and do they lather enough!
to baby in a corner – organic shampoos are quite a gamble – I loved aprocot Jason but Faith in Nature’s seaweed shampoo dried out my hair so badly it looks like hay now:S
By the way, amount of lather doesn’t indicate the quality at all.
organic shampoos you say… I have some Lavera at home, must give it a go
And I agree sweetie with the lather – it doesn’t really matter how much a shampoo lathers up, the best ones hardly lather at all
yeah i heard that before but i have extremely thick hair and if the shampoo doesn’t lather it doesn’t spread throughout my hair and i get one greasy patch at the side of my head!
i’ve tried burts bees for coloured hair and liked it well enough, left hair clean and pretty shiny. also got dead sea spa magik shampoo (which i know is not strictly organic) but its a bit too runny and leaves the ends dry i think.
I second the vote for organic shampoos if it had to be organic. I tried Dr Hauschka, that didn’t work at all. I like the Aveda one I have now (i know, not too organic), but i’m not completely satisfied with it.
On the other hand, I also like the salon pedicure idea, especially coupled with the hygiene bit!!
Kind of cautious since the wax double dipping fiasco…
Face Masks!! Defo.
OMG – there’s another sweetie – with same spelling as me and all! I know there’s another “sweety”.
Think I’m changing soon anyway – it’s what my b-f called me but I think we’ll be breaking up this weekend somehow so I may want to change it anyway…
I’m using a shampoo and conditioner from the Apivita range at the mo and loving them. I adore Aveda aswell. Why isn’t it so organic?
Adonis – I love Apivita too!
I especially love their face mask sachets – a great idea for just trying out a new range. A shame other ranges don’t do this. I use the masks 2-3 week in the bath for optimum absorption and they never fail to tone and calm my skin.
Sorry, I know I’ve said it before, but the ONLY organic shampoo worth using is Toni and Guy’s Label M organic one, (they only do one fragrance – I think it’s lemon and coriander). It’s the only organic shampoo I’ve found which dosen’t leave your hair looking like a loo brush after a few weeks use.
I think organic shampoos as well – i’ve been using Burt’s Bees Pomegranate and Soy very volumising shampoo and so far i’m impressed. Lathers well, cleans and smells delicious. My hair is looking lovely and shiny too (if i do say so myself). And i don’t usually like Burt’s Bees ..
Thanks for the great info…im going to try’em out.
