La Roche Posay reckon "sensitive skin is characterised by an excessive reaction to factors which are usually well-tolerated in normal skin. Sensitive skin reddens, tingles, or stings and pulls and can experience burning sensations."

So what can make skin so sensitive?

  • Well the environment is an obvious factor. Temperature change, wind and pollution are all baaaad.
  • You might also have sensitivity caused by fragile blood vessel walls;
  • Do you react to certain products, hard water, clothes or other textiles?
  • Finally your skin might be prone to atopic eczema, and this means it's pre-disposed to hyper-reactivity.

Now that wasn't sciency at all. I took out all the hydra oxidisation atom bonding protein structure stuff for you and just put up some words "we can all enjoy". In the style of It's Pat. Remember that filum? A classic. Will never lose it's hilarity.
