Story? Grey hair on men wha?

Another day, another beauty query to solve at Beaut.ie HQ. Once more my mailbox recieved a strange communique. See can you make head or tail of it.

Howeya. Just writin in on one of those internet yokes down the boozer to see if anyone fancies a bit of an aul ride an in annyways? Jaysus effin christ there’s thousands of youse burds readin this blog that I could charm the Pennys knickers off wha? I’ve a big langer – well jaysus everyone knows – it’s all part of me legend by now. So happy days for me wha’?

And for you, if you play your cards right, know what I mean, an in annyways.

Ah no seriously I’m in a bit of a fix. It’s wreckin me buzz. Well it’s me hair that’s the worry. I’m goin a bit grey. I’m still a ride though, don’t be worrin ladies.

Fancy a Marlboro? – or a bit of a dart while no one’s lookin? Ah only messin, I like to treat me motts better than that. Sure I’ll stand as many as wants me and me big langer, a pint a Harp down the pub later. What pub? Any bleedin pub in Dublin, fecks sake. I’ll be in them all, every bleedin one, tonight. It’s me hard drinkin ways, all part of me legend wha? I’ll be finishin off in Lily’s so you can catch me there if you fancy a bit of the other. Whoooa – go on ya good thing!

Itgrecian200.jpg was unsigned, as these strange emails so often are. Again, with no clue who had sent it, I deduced that it was from a male person, with far too much testosterone and an unnatural tendency to be speaking in the strongest Dublinese possible. Oh and who was going a bit grey.

What advice to give him? Stay grey! It’s sexy. Don’t be going for any of yer old Grecian 2000 or any of that jazz.

But if you are who I think you might be, I do have a couple of pieces of advice for you. Don’t be worrying about the grey hair – but please oh please WASH it a bit more often. And lose the beard. It’s seriously yuck. Get yourself to a good barber – they’ll sort you out.

Now over to you Beaut.ies. Any advice for our emailer?

LOL Hilarious!! I agree with you Aphrodite, men should not atempt to dye their hair or interfere with the lovely silver bits. My hubbie has jet black hair but has a lot of silvery bits at the sides now and back but looks really good on him!

  • ams says:

Yeah grey is better than the marty whelan aubergine toned mess that he was sporting a couple of years ago. As my mam would say “he looks like he’s had a bit of a tint!”

  • Scurge says:

    I thought Colin Farrell had a girlfriend….

  • becks says:

Yes gery is fine by me. Don’t think men should dye at all. I have a bit of a crush on David McWillaims and he was a strawberry blond but I saw him on the telly recently and he was brown!!

  • Roseyrosie says:

I love grey hair, AND beards!

  • Lindsay says:

I’ve a friend who speaks EXACTLY the same as that – I love it! Being a Dubtalk-wannabe, I think it’s ace!
Grey hair though – not my cuppa tea. If you can get away with dying it back to your ‘natural’ colour without it looking ridiculous – go for it. ;)

  • Bumblebee says:

Mr BB is going really grey & he’s 27! Looks great on him though, he has lovely sandy blonde hair so the grey blends in really well. It makes it look extra shiny!

  • T-cup says:

ejit funny though but he needs to get out more

  • prudence says:

Had the pleasure of running my fingers through David McWilliams’ hair in Listowel this year – it’s lovely and thick and springy, browny reddish and didn’t look dyed. But then what would I know – i was too busy listening to him talk!

  • aphrodite says:

Prudence, I don’t think it was him asking for the advice…

  • nevdev27 says:

My friend has been going gray since he was in secondary school! He’s practically all gray now and he’s only 27. He calls himself the silver bullet, always cracks me up!

  • PinkPanther says:

Prudence?? Did you get down and dirty with Mr McW OR WHA??
I think grey hair can look very distinguished on a man – with the right accessories of course!

  • becks says:

the programme I saw was DMW was the Dave Fanning one and it did look browner than normal – was wondering if he having a mid life crises – he’s about 35ish I think. Running your hands through his hair how did you manage that?

  • red says:

Strange timing- I just wrote an open letter on my blog to a man struggling with going grey. My advice is- GO GREY.

  • prudence says:

Becks you have to go to Listowel – the most amazing things happen there! He’s just great fun – and his wife is exquisite!

  • becks says:

prudence – I was at the races there once but found them quite as I’m a galway girl. I was reading that his wife is a lawyer and they go to Dubrovnik evey summer – himself and eddie hobbs bought places there just after the troubles for nothing.

I like him, find him funny – have the recent book which is funny in places.

  • Annie says:

My fella’s only 24 and he’s got loads of grey hairs. It’s not very noticable though – I rather like it actually!

  • Lottie says:

I like grey hair on men – given that their faces are not also greying. Just look at George Clooney!

  • Gossipgal says:

Ah leave poor Colin alone. Did you ever see photos of the older brother. Dyed hair with highlight and a tango job

  • Gilly says:

Sorta fancy the brother.. jaysus am a sicko..

  • Gossipgal says:

Gilly sorry to disapoint you but he has a hubbie

  • cailin says:

silver foxes are amazing, i looooooooovvvvvvvvvvvve them!!!! clooney, jim mcdaid,it is not wrong

  • Gossipgal says:

Not really cailin. I’m going grey and only 27 (next week )

  • Roseyrosie says:

Gossipgal my aunt went grey at 18, like totally silver, and I think it can be really beautiful. Honestly I imagine I wouldn’t mind going grey! I’m sure if it came to it I’d have some problems, but I have never seen a young woman with grey hair and not gone “wow”. That sounds mad but I think it’s so unusual and really beautiful!
