Eyelash extensions at Akina: beyond fabilis

eyelash-extension.jpg

On Saturday morning I had myself a little enhancement.

I’ve been DYING to get eyelash extensions for ages. So off I went to Akina and in an hour and a half Barbara had transformed me.

“Would you like a dramatic or more subtle look?” she asked me. “Ooooh, dramatic definitely” I said.

A soft pad is placed over your lower lashes, so the top and bottom eyelashes don’t stick together when the glue is applied. Then you close your eyes for the time of the treatment. The extensions are glued on to your natural lashes. It’s a painstaking process. Each extension is applied separately and dried with a little puff of air.

Not painstaking for me of course. Nope, I just lay on the heated bed and drifted off.

And then it was time to see the result. I loved it! There’s nothing fake looking about these Xtreme extensions at all. They look really natural. You look like you… only better.

The extensions last for the lifetime of the eyelash. Each person has a different lash lifecycle of course, but generally speaking you can expect to get weeks or months out of this treatment. It costs €130 and if you go back in two weeks for your “top up” treatment that costs just €60.

You have to take special care of the extensions though - so I’ll be telling you all about that in the next couple of days.

I definitely recommend you get this done if you have an event coming up. Or even if you don’t.

A real feel good beauty treatment. Fabilis.

If you’re based in Dublin we totally recommend that you check out Akina - it’s a firm Beaut.ie favourite.

Sounds great, but I bet it gets addictive… ;)

  • PinkPanther says:

Oh I’ve been really looking forward to hearing about this. I want to get it done but I’m afraid once I have them I won’t like the look of me without them. And it sounds like an expensive enough habbit!

  • Twinkletoes says:

It really does get addictive! I loved mine, but after a few fills I had to wean myself off because it’s expensive enough. Mine lasted about 3-4wks before needing a top-up, that was with no mascara on them. Your eyes look so crap afterwards though when you’re used to having the extensions!

If Akina is a bit dear for you, Daydream in Ashbourne/Clontarf/Sandycove/Terenure do them for €80. And they have 20% off for the month of April, so it’s only €64 for a full set!

  • Principessa says:

Now tell the truth Aphrodite, did you get these done just for Daniel?

  • montagne says:

I want to get this done for my wedding. Any idea who does it in Limerick or Cork?

  • Aphrodite says:

Heheh Principessa - I got them done JUST for him!
Oh how I love that man, crush is reaching critical levels of excitement at the thought of tonight!

Pink you should get it done - it would look brill on you

  • Trillian II says:

I plan to get these before my wedding - but I guess I should probably go for a test a few months before.

Do they look awful while they’re growing out?

  • LadyJ says:

I am definitely gonna get these done - So glad you’re reviewing them - Thank you!

  • becks says:

I would love to get these done but while they are expensice it is more the ’special care’ I was worried about so am interested to hear this.

There is a place in Galway on the tuam road and as far as I can remember the price was nearer the €150 mark.

  • Aphrodite says:

It’s a tough job LadyJ - but someone has to do it!

  • Cleopatra says:

ooh, think i might treat self to this since bday is coming up(boo!)and i can be all fluttertastic at the karaoke!

  • Miss Mel says:

Ohhhh i can’t wait to try these they sound great!!! Love Barbara aswell, hands down the nicest beautican in dublin!!! I’ll be booking myself in soon :)

  • Anna says:

Are you allowed put mascara on the extensions or are they designed to look great without needin the mascara??

  • Miss Mel says:

There is a special mascara made for the Xtreme eyelashes and you can only use this mascara. Another brand would damage them. Yes they are designed so that you would not need to wear mascara but just incase they give you the option :)

Check out there photo gallery…it’s amazing! I brought eyelashes at the show only 5euro a pair! and there fabulous on x

  • unnamed says:

I recently got my eye lashes done by Karen from Nova Lashes and WOW what a DISASTER they turned out to be. This girl is not a director, she’s daddys little girl who uses fake novalashes bought off eBay.

I bet the previous posters aren’t legit either..
