Got long, lustrous, naturally beautiful hair that others admire and envy?
No, me either.
But if you have long hair that’s never been, bleached, permed, tinted highlighted, chemically straightened or otherwise subjected to the demands of modern life, you could sell it for buckets of moola.
Real hair is in huge demand for use as hair extensions, hairpieces and wigs. But it must be in fantastic condition, which unfortunately rules out most of the western world. But not everyone, as the users of thehairtrader.com have discovered.
The girl in the picture sold her 25″ of hair on thehairtrader for $2,500. Her classified ad read:
My hair is very straight and healthy. It is light brown with natural blond highlights. It has never been permed or colored. I trim it every other month and I do not blow dry it. I will cut my hair upon cleared payment.

Never been bleached? OK, I’ve avoided that.
Never been permed? In the immortal words of the song, “It was acceptable in the eighties”.
Never been highlighted? Erm, does washing it with lemon juice to bring out the NATURAL higlights count?
Looks like I won’t be selling my split ended, layered, GHDed, greys-peeping-through lustrous locks any time soon. Ah well…
Teehee. My hair looked like that till I was 15. Then I started working in the local hairdressers. My stylish boss was none too impressed with my skinny, pasty 5 foot three ness being drowned by this long dark hair. He told me “The longer your hair is the shorter YOU look!” I was snipped up to just past shoulderlength and died auburn, then had a flame red long bob for a while, then a bleached drop within 6 months! My mother was devestated but I was OH so trendy
Doh! Bleached CROP not drop, obviously!
im reminded of jo in the book little women, she sold her hair didn’t she.
i have hair that’s got no colour etc but i have weird ears, don’t think i cld carry short hair, even if it earnt me a bob or two . . sigh
Had I known this a few months ago……….my mother donated my childhood pigtails (and my grandmother’s) to a charity that makes real hair wigs for Russian children who lost their hair to cancer. Ah well I would just have spent the money on stuff I don’t need
Aw minx, that’s lovely…..heartwarming!
i rang http://www.hairextensons.ie they said they dont buy hair extensions directly from girls as the hair has to be processed.my search continues
