(Buster Go)Nads

Leaving aside the high-larious name of this product (I don’t think they thought about it for too long or else the people in the focus groups they used didn’t tell them for a laugh), NADS is marketed as a natural hair removing product. “Oh“, thought I, “great! No nasty smell like Immac/Veet/whatever they’re calling it this week, excellent“.

NADSSo I bought the facial wand version, which they say is perfect for shaping brows and getting rid of the’auld bit of a ‘tash some of us have. The formulation is completely natural and water-soluble, so there’s none of that endless hassle you have with wax when little bits stick to the skin – I hate that. It’ll also remove hair as short as 3-5mm. Looks wise, it’s a thick green syrup and it’s hassle free in that it doesn’t have be heated – your own body heat softens it. It comes complete with linen strips that you use over the gel to pull the hair off – similar to using strip wax, and wipes that you use to clean the area before treatment.

So what you do is use the wipe and then make sure your face is dry. You then smooth on a thin, even layer of the green goo onto the area you want to treat, in the direction of the hair growth. Your body heat is supposed to be sufficient to melt the product and provide good hair removal properties. You then smooth a linen strip on top, and quickly snap it back off again, keeping it close to the skin, and pulling against the direction of the hair. Et voila!

Eh, except it’s not quite et voila. It’s more like ehh, wha’? It doesn’t work! I thought I’d done it wrong, so I tried again….and again, and then again. Nothing. Nada. Not a little squeak of a hair moving in its follicle, not a hint of a removal of hirsuteness.

So if you’ll excuse the pun (and the language), I found Nads to be a load of bollocks.

Eyebrows? Yeah right – you have those plucked into perfection. You wanted it for your tash I bet – and it would take nuclear weaponry to dislodge that!! So I don’t think this was a fair review at all

  • Cleopatra says:

I wasted money on Nads too. It is useless, unless you like to have a tash and lots of broken flakey skin at the same time.

any reccomendation on what is the best for that job?

  • Mary says:

I got lip and chin wax last year found it good. Only thing is if you get it done make sure you dont apply any make up to the area or you will break out in spots!

  • kirstie says:

Oh ha ha you’re soooo funny Aphrodite. I tried it on the bit between my eyebrows where there was a little bit of hair. Not a peep of it moving, and yes, I got some little spots the next day!

As to recommendations, it’s back to the drawing board I’m afraid!

  • Zita says:

Veet have some ready-to-use wax strips that don’t involve any heating, wax goo or messing. And most importantly, there isn’t even a hint of Veet’s trademark gross stench.

You rub the strips between your palms to warm the wax inside, peel the strips apart, slap ‘em on then whip ‘em off, et – pretty much – voila! It’s been years since I’ve used them, but for at-home waxing I found them pretty efficient. Here’s a link that may or not work… http://www.boots.com/shop/product_details.jsp?productid=1006512&classificationid=1039098

My fella uses them veet wax strips for hair small bits of hair he has just under adams apple. they do work and you can cut the strips before you peel them apart to suit the area you are waxing. they also have wipes to soothe the area after you wax which come in the pack

  • Dweedles says:

Has anyone any tips to make the whole process any less painful. I dread it. I use immac facial strips and it’s agony.

  • Kirstie says:

yeah, I think if you have a bath before waxing it can help because it softens the hair and the heat opens the pores, so in theory the hair should slip out more easily. I am thinking of getting an epilator, but apparently they’re agony too.

  • Dweedles says:

I have an epilator but have only used it on my legs. Is there such a thing as a facial epilator??. I found that using it on my legs got easier every time I used it. It does pull the hairs out at the root so it’s never going to be painless but I found that holding the skin ‘taut’ with my left hand and epilating with my right produced fairly painless results and of course it lasts a couple of weeks. Great in the summer when the old legs are on show. I have to say things have slipped in that department since the boots went on!

  • Aphrodite says:

I have to say things have slipped in that department since I got married!! Ha ha only joking – as if!!

  • glittergirl says:

I have Nads (he he he) and I use it on my eyebrows and find it fantastic but then again seeing as I only have about 10 hairs that grow back every six months after the years of waxing and plucking maybe that’s why!!!

  • Cleopatra says:

I have an epilator too. its seriously painful, so you have to be well used to waxing. Use it on legs and Bikini too.

I find it best to go and get waxed in salon first, and use epilator to keep on top of the regrowth. You would need to use it nearly every week if you have cark hair, but it keeps you nice and smooth and no long wait till you have to go back to slaon.

    Great investment.

  • Aphrodite says:

Ouch! I think I’m too wimpy for epilators. I can’t live without my Venus razor!

  • yvonne says:

i got a bikini wax for my hols and the problem has gotten a lot worse since, anyone know anything bout laser hair removal and whether it actually works
