SS10: Mac Into the Groove

Mac into the groove

Landing in July is Into the Groove from Mac, a pretty large collection of baked mineralized shades in blush, shadow and Skinfinishes that’s complemented by some bright – and unusual – lip colours. Pretty much defined by vivid but wearable shades, there’s a lot in here to like.  I got Mineralize Eyeshadow in Togetherness, Mineralize Blush in Hang Loose and Mineralize Skinfinish in Petticoat to try.

Of the three, it’s the shadows I’m most taken with. I really love Mac’s Mineralize Skinfinishes but Petticoat is just too warm and rosy-gold for my pale skin. I’d look C3PO’d with it on – but it could well be a goer with a tan, plus it’s perfect for a darker or more sallow tone, delivering a really glimmering, pretty finish.

The blush is interesting – the pink side is more or less a very slightly satiny matte, with the lilac side being a fair bit more pearlised. Swirl both together and you get a cool-toned shimmery blush that I’ve yet to work into a look – but hey, just give me time. Potentially, it may be a bit too cool for me – I do like bright, warm cheek colours.

My fave of the trio is Togetherness, the Mineralize Eyeshadow. Want to see an up-close shot and a swatch? Those, and a full product line-up are after the cut.

Pretty, eh?

Pigmentation is decent, the colours are good and really wearable – the purple’s the stand out here: slightly metallic and a little iridescent, it’s gorgeous, and will make for a really beautiful smokey, dramatic eye.

I am using the Petticoat Skinfinish – have it on now! Agree on the shade, it’s more like a bronzer. The first time I used it I liberally applied it all over – bad mistake!

But it is gorgeous on cheeks and a touch of it on nose, chin forehead etc

  • Aphrodite says:

I also have the eyeshadow on! Pink and purple are my favourite colours on the eyes and the pigment is so good here you can really build them up or apply very lightly for a subtle look

  • Aifs says:

I’m really liking the look of this collection! On my NYC list now! I bought 1 of those mineral eyeshadow duos last year and I love the texture of them.

  • baby in a corner says:

i find the eyeshadow texture a little shimmery but the pigmentation is good. i wouldn’t have thought the blushes were blushes at all from the colours in them, i would have presumed they were eyeshadow duos.

Whats the best MSF for pale cool toned skins from the permanent collection? any recommendations?

  • Christina says:

Yes, the colours look nice but I really dont’ like eyeshadows where the different colours are together in one pot. It’s a real job to use the seperate shades without messing the whole thing up.

  • Theresa says:

“baby in a corner says: Whats the best MSF for pale cool toned skins from the permanent collection?” – The only MSFs in the permanent collection are the MSF Natural ones, which can work as a light coverage foundation or as a setting powder

Thanks for the product and price list! I like to make a little MAC budget for myself when I go in there on collection day. Helps stop me overspending!

Looks lovely… but brown lipstick? Urgh!

Are these available in Dublin yet?
