We’re always getting asked about dark circles. What causes them, and more importantly, how the feck do you get rid of them? They’re a scourge and in general the most you can do is Touche Eclat them into submission – but that’s just a cover up, and not a solution.
I was reading about a product called Hylexin the other day which is for “serious dark circles“. It’s for anyone who suffers from severe dark under eye circles that distinctly cause you to look old and tired. According to Hylexin’s makers, dark circles “are not caused by late night partying or working late but are, in fact, a result of the oxidation of blood in the capillary matrix of the peri-orbital eye area“. Eeuuw!
They have more claims too: “Hylexin is the first formula specially developed to combat dark circles, although not just the kind that show up in the morning and then disappear after breakfast but those serious dark circles you just can’t get rid of. Hylexin is the hottest, new ‘must-have’ compound that will dramatically reduce the appearance of that red-blue pigmentation and strengthen your capillary matrix too”
Interested? I thought some of you might be! You can buy from Strawberrynet for the fright inducing price of €75.50.

“capillary matrix” God, they love their buzzwords anyway. So do I get this or the dermatalogica stuff?
I’m quite worried about my own capilliary matrix after the amount of booze I put into it last night!
I guess it depends on what effect you want to achieve? what dermalogica product were you after?
I dunno
Whatever gets rid of those dark saucers that sleep alone won’t get rid of. Dermalogica was suggested though I can’t remember which exact product.
hylexin may be worth a try so, IF, and it’s a big IF, it does what it claims to! I read about it on another blog and the person who was writing about it uses it, and said it was fab, so who knows?
other things you could try are getting an extra pillow, doing facial massage in and around your eyes to help drain excess fluid and try getting one of those gel masks, and keep it in the fridge. Lie down and put it over your eyes – but that would help with puffiness more than dark circles. Also, don’t put your regular moisturiser up around your eyes, do get a specific product for eyes. the eye area is much thinner skinwise and face products are too heavy for it, and that in itself can lead to circles.
Not sure what dermalogica product you were after, I shall have a look. I have my hangover helper on right now, it’s a miracle worker
Hi Damien, I recommended Dermalogica Total Care for you! sent you a link to Adonis – just looking now, the Jack Black one looks good too – anyone tried it?
Kirstie is the cryptically named Admin, hence the confusion!
Clarity shines through! Thanks ladies.
You’re more then welcome Mr Mulley!
Feckit the price of that stuff would give you dark circles! I’ve been plagued with dark circles all my life – nothing I’ve tried (apart from industrial strength concealer) has done the trick.. but then again…maybe I should take the plunge? wonder how long it lasts (probably takes 6 months to kick in as well eh?)
Hi that girl! This looks to me something along the lines of StriVectin, in other words serious skincare. Could be worth a try if nothing else has worked?
Be really interested to hear if anyone has had any success with this. My eyes are a disaster. Have read some good stuff but an pricey mistake if it doesn’t work!
yeah i would love to try this stuff. the downside of sallowy skin is very dark under eyes. however as that girl mentioned i might have sleepless night induced dark circles wondering how to pay for my new expensive eye cream habit very quickly
Fade Out is good too. You can get it in Boots or Superdrug. It works!
Hi girlies,
Bought this stuff about two months ago and spent a BANK BREAKING 135euro in harvey nichols on it and i have to say……………don’t think it was worth a cent for me anyway!! I have those pesky dark circles after one two many late nights -every night- and it doesn’t work on them BUT if you have SERIOUS dark circles, like it’s the first thing you would notice about your face then this may help them. My friend has very very bad dark circles and by bad i mean EVERYONE comments that she looks extremely tired so she used this for a week when she was staying over recently and it made a huge difference! So unless you have eyes that make you look like you might be a part-time boxer then i wouldn’t part with my money for this product.
Especially when you can ‘Realness of Concealness’ or ‘Touche Eclat’ your way out of boxer eyeness!!!
anyone tried the Loreal version of touche eclat? saw it today in pharmacy………….
I’ve tried Hylexin, and it does say that maybe only about 77% of people see actual results. Unfortunately I was the other 23% of people who didnt see a result and honestly, Hylexin was a complete waste of money. But who knows, it may be different for different people?
thanks Cynthia – I too am always wary of the results of those “scientific” tests
Hi Everyone,
I am a chemically sensitive version of the dark circle clan. I have studied the causes of it, and worked with it for some time. I just heard about Hylexin, and the capillary matrix. I would like to learn about the reason for the oxidation of blood in the peri-occipital eye area. Then I can figure out my own formula. Anyone searching for other info on the problem, sorry, I don’t have a website yet, but ask me and maybe I can help. Anyone with scientific resource for the oxidation dilemma, please, share that.
With gratitude and curiosity,
Lisa Moonrose

Hi,
This is a wonder eye cream, it really does works I am one of those boxer looking girls all day even when I have not been out, concealer helps a bit but not always. I got a sample a few months ago and it was amazing and i have tried everything since and nothing works i have spent a small fortune on the cheaper products and a tone of concealer but going to hand over the cash now at least it does what it says !!
Karen
Hello,
I suffer from serious darks circles also and was deperate to try anything! I plucked up the courgage to fork out for this little tube and I can strongly say that I wasn’t worth it. There has been no change whatsoever and I’m nearly finished the tube.
Up to you but I woudln’t recommend it
Hylexin total waste of money!
I to had the boxer-eyes all days!! Hylexin was the only thing that I came over that worked for me. I used it twice a day for two months Now a days I only got dark cirkels under my eyes when I slept bad.
Bought Hylexin.. used it religiously every day. Finished the tube. Results: None. Complete waste of money do not buy.
