Avon Anew Reversalist Serum: Me Likey

The first time I used Reversalist, €41.50, from Avon‘s Anew range, I knew that it reminded me of something. The texture, the immediate and visible effect on skin, even the smell – almost every element of the product felt very familiar to me. The packaging did not, as was abundantly clear the second time I used it, when I managed to squirt the stuff all across the bathroom.

Reversalist looks like something that wouldn’t have appeared out of place as a prop on the latest Star Trek movie. It’s a sealed red and grey capsule from which product is dispensed via a small nozzle on one side of the capsule, ordered out by a push-button mechanism on the other.

Formulated to deal with the anti-aging concerns of women in their 40s and specifically to dramatically reverse the look of wrinkles, Reversalist is the first bit of skincare kit to contain Activinal Wrinkle Reversal Technology. This is designed to stimulate the production of Activin, which is a repairing protein complex naturally produced by the skin in response to cuts to assist wound repair.

It certainly smooths skin on application – much like Esteé Lauder’s Idealist, which is the product it reminded me of so much. And while I initially wasn’t really expecting to see lasting results, after two week’s use, I find that my skin does look more even toned and there is a perceptible softening of the lines in my forehead – all without clogging my pores or causing me to break out.

Lynne, I bought this from the Avon rep in work about 4 weeks ago.
I had used a sample before buying and really liked the feel of it on my skin. The first morning I used it I applied it after cleansing and it felt really silky on my skin. I put my usual moisturiser over and let it sink in before applying my foundation. Well what a disappointment. My foundation all but slid off over the course of the morning ! I was so disappointed that I decided to skip it in the mornings and just use in the evenings after taking off the slap and before moisturising. I have to say I hardly noticed any difference than usual to my skin. I don’t have any lines on my forehead, but to be honest it didn’t make much difference to the texture of my skin. No more than my usual moisturiser does anyway. And despite using only a small amount each evening I was dismayed to see that this product ran dry after 2 / 3 weeks ! I didn’t think it was good value for money and definitely would not buy it again. Would love to know what others thought about this.

I used some Avon anew stuff a few years ago and was quite impressed, especially with their moisturiser but haven’t used any avon stuff in ages actually.

Pandorra, did you complain about the drying up of the product? That doesn’t sound at all normal and definately not acceptable from such an expensive product.

Sweetie, I didn’t. It just ran out. Usually most products last a few months. This ran out after 2 / 3 weeks tops, despite only using a smidgin at night time. It looks like quite a big bottle, but there’s probably a tiny cannister with the serum in inside. I definitely wouldn’t buy it again. The fact that my foundation slid off really p’d me off as well. I did get a free sample of the Anew night time moisturiser and I was quite impressed with this. My skin felt refreshed and soft in the mornings. Would consider buying that in the future.
