Nude nails can be really hard to get right, especially with typical Irish skin tones. So rather than trying every version of pink and peach imaginable and wearing a hole in your pocket in the process, why not veer towards colours with grey or even slightly purple undertones?
I’d pretty much given up on nudes until I chanced upon Orly’s Country Club Khaki, which has been gracing my nails on and off now for the last few weeks. It’s a taupe-y mushroom that Himself hates (he’s not a fan of black, navy or green on nails either, which just goes to show that blokes haven’t a flipping breeze about these things). And, unlike the pinky peachy nudes I’ve tried in the past, it doesn’t give me dead fingers.
And what did I discover is Chanel’s hottest new new nail colour for Spring 2010? Nope, not Jade – sooooo last week, dahlings – but a mushroom shade with mauve undertones. Also created by creative director Peter Philips, it’s called Particulière and debuted at the recent SS10 Ready To Wear shows in Paris, where it was sported by Lily Allen as well as by the models. Expect to see it on counter in January.
Or not, given that it’ll probably be sold out and subject to a big ol’ waiting list if it even makes it to our shores…

I am just not liking this, dunno why, maybe it’s my aversion to jumping on the PP nail bandwagon but I don’t think this is for moi.

I think it would be very hard for most women to wear…in fact I am not sure what skintone it would suit. It reminds me of something from What Lies Beneath…a murky waterlodgged ghosty person.

That model looks horrifically unhealthy, which doesn’t make me want anything she has on, to be honest. I know, I’m so shallow like that.
Yep Milkymoo, I agree, she definitely has a corpse-esque thing going on & the nails just add to the effect! I’m partial to a darker brown polish though, looks much better on me then black…
Nope, definitely couldn’t wear that colour nail varnish.
There is a nice ie lighter shade of this in Inglot in Liffey Valley.
Think Marion Keyes was wearing a green nailvarinsh on the Apprentice Youre fired show on Monday, don’t think I liked it!
I’m not sure this would work on me – I’ve tried similar shades before and I just look corpse-like with them. But I’ll give the Chanel shade a whirl just to see if it’s any different
yeah I don’t like this one at all. I can’t see it suiting most skintones.

hmm, nope i can’t see that working on my hands at all. Spotting some nice darker metallic browns around though so i’ll try one of those first i think
Well beige has always been incredibly (and inexplicably) popular so I suppose beige nails were only a matter of time. This is one I’ll be avoiding, the Chanel one with the mauve undertones sounds like it could look very corpse-y. I’m pale enough with no make up on to try channeling a completely dead look!

Actually I’m a bit annoyed it’s really popular as I saw a lovely shade of mushroom on HQhair recently. Now it’s “in” it’ll probably sell out..
Ladywanderer, I now use http://www.transdesign.com Fantastic range of OPI, Essie, Creative, Orly etc. Ordered on a Friday & it arrived the following Wednesday from the US… now that’s service!!!

Model looks like she’s on forty a day. I’m in two minds about it. I like nudes, beiges etc. Think I’d prefer matt grey to this tbh.

I quite like the Butter London range and the shade Fash Pack is a nice matte mushroomy colour. It might not be for everyone but I think it adds a modern twsit to a nude nail.
Not liking it…I don’t want no shade of mud or brown on my nails
