Yesterday Kirstie and I were talking about - guess what? - makeup. we were considering the contents of a particularly beaurriful eyeshadow palette she had in her lamh.
“Oooh look at the colours. Look at the depth of pigment.”
We were in raptures. Then she tried to palm some inferior shadows off on me. I wasn’t having any of it
“Nah” I said “Not really feeling it”
Which led to further discussion of favourite brands of eyeshadow. Why do we love some and not rate others? In other words we need to solve this most compex of questions - which eyeshadows really cut the mustard? And does anyone ever use that banana yellow shade in every palette?
Are you a Bobbi Brown or Mac gal - or does Bourjois do it for you every time? Let us know!

I’m also a huge Urban Decay lover, particularly the deluxe shadows, and although I’m not a huge fan of palettes I do love the UD Book of Shadows and also the Dior quints.
I find the texture of both to be fabulous, with little fallout from the Dior quints (although there’s tones from the UD I still love them). Colour selection from Urban Decay is also fantastic.
I am NOT a MAC fan. I find them greatly overhyped and incredidably inconsistant in quality. I’ve given away more MAC eyeshadows than I’ve ever kept and will only buy MAC now if it’s a truely unique, high pigment colour.
MAC rant over!
