Beaut.ie Wonders: What’s Your Favourite Beauty Bit?

Happy woman

To make sure the feng shui of the blog is maintained, I’ve repositioned the couch, scattered some crystals about the place, switched on some music that sounds like whales mating/in pain, and am putting this post up as the yin to the yang of our recent “What’s Your Least Favourite Beauty Bit?” post.

So if the thoughts of defuzzing or flossing or clipping your toenails breaks you out in a cold sweat, what gets you feeling all relax-y and really looking forward to a bit of “you” time? Long soaks in the tub surrounded by candles with a glass of Pinot Grigio in hand? Face masks and a flip through some trashy mags with a nice Chablis?

My own personal favourite is a DIY mani-pedi and a lovely mojito in front of the telly. Although I don’t recommend getting really into the (optional, of course, enjoy alcohol responsibly) drinkies until the actual nail painting’s out of the way…

What beauty bits do you love?

Makeup! My absolutely favourite thing is putting my slap on. Bloody love it.

  • Joanne says:

I like putting on facemasks and lathering on the old moisturiser after

  • MontyC says:

Kirstie – Same here. I love standing there thinking ‘what eyeshadows will I wear today…’ :-)

  • PinkPanther says:

Hmm, Friday night, long bath with Laura Mercier bubble bath and candles, chilled glass of vino, copy of Vogue and pink champagne truffles. Some nice intensive conditioner on my noggin. Heaven

  • Olaola says:

Ooooh, I love so many things! I, too, am a huge fan of DIY mani-pedi, Lynnie :) The real deal, ie everything from soaking my feet and filing etc to glossy topcoats. I’m relaxing just thinking about it ;)

I love long bubble baths where I take a stack of magazines and books! Too bad I just moved flats and only have a shower in the new place :(

  • Ems says:

Make up! every time I put it on I thank God for make-up ;-)

  • Renee says:

I’m with you Lynnie! Love doing my nails with a glass of vino and SATC on the box.

  • Gee Gee says:

Make-up of course, a nice facemask with a good book and some candles to relax with while it does its magical work and a DIY mani-pedi with Gossip Girl to watch while I do my work :) Think thats sorted half my weekend plans just there.

  • BackToBlonde says:

When himself is out and I have hours to play with my makeup properly – he thinks I’m crazy but having a full hour to do my make up (with X Factor on in background) really does start a great night for me and – then my make up lasts the whole night too! No touch up required!

Other than that, a nice DIY mani/pedi when the nail varnish doesn’t smudge at all is always a nice treat!

  • Keila says:

Ummmm eyeshadow :) and trying out new samples of things, preferably free ones!

Although, I find it easier and quicker to paint my nails after a glass of red for some reason…

  • Glamazon says:

Definitely lying in a really hot bath with Jo Malone bath oil whilst reading a mag.

The other night I asked husband to brush my hair for ages whilst watching TV and it was fab – haven’t done that in years and forgot how relaxing it was and great for the scalp and my hair has been lovely and much more managable since.

  • Laura says:

Foot massage with nice cream, courtesy of the husband.

  • Fabulash! says:

makeup but more specifically my eyes. I love applying, blending, smoking out, lining, defining, mascara-ing my eyes! Other than that though nice face mask whilst Ive got some intensive hair conditioner in!

  • jenizzle says:

definitely eye make up! Could spend hours at it!

  • Babaduck says:

Any type of massage makes me happy!

  • BBG says:

Ok, a weirdo here: I actually like waxing. I mean not the act itself, although it’s really no big deal with Ellen in Waxperts, but the feeling afterwards. That I’m ‘human’ again, tidy and neat. Pathetic, I know.
I also like opening something new for the first time: a gorge eyeshadow or heavenly shower gel, doesn’t matter, it’s the promise that it will be something great and better than everything else before. :)

  • Chanel Queen says:

I love Saturday nights getting ready, the whole long hot shower, cleansing, x factor on in the background, picking eyeshadow, false eye lashes or just Chanel Inimitable mascara, lipstick versus lipgloss… love it all, have taken up to 5 hours of getting ready, i hate being rushed so if im out for 9pm i usually get in the shower for 6… my worst is cleaning hair out of a plug hole, i once threw up doing it, it puts the fear of god in me!!!!!! yuck

  • cailín says:

putting on makeup aswell!!love it!and having my hair blowdries, love the perfect state they get it in!

  • Lilly says:

Absolutly Love plucking my eyebrows, Love getting them all nice and tidy.

  • inkywrists says:

Putting on makeup, love love love! And trying new products for the first time is always exciting!

  • Thought Bubble says:

I totally agree with BBG! Not that I’m into the pain element of waxing, but I do LOVE being freshly waxed. I feel lighter, cleaner, smother, and dare I say it, sexier!

  • lolkat says:

I love applying a perfect make up base. I have acne prone skin, so I love the morning transition from chickenpox-faced-Kat to flawless-faced-Kat… via Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Light, Touche Eclat for peepers and Lily-Lolo mineral concealer, foundation and finishing powder. Helps me face the day! *chuckle*

  • Alison says:

Having a hot bath with a face mask on and doing a full pampering sesion with your feet (scrub, moisturiser and pedi) Bliss! :) oh also getting my hair done i coulf fall asleep when there massaging your head :)
