Unexpectedly Lovely High Shine Lipgloss From... No7!

No 7 gloss

Sex And The City 2 might not feature in my "top five movies of all time" list but, to be fair, it brought me a few things that I really enjoyed. Like Samantha's nails, lush set design... and my new favourite lipgloss.

No7 High Shine Gloss, €12.75, didn't feature in the film itself, now - it came courtesy of the goodie bag from Special K, who were hosting the swank VIP screening I went along to. In the tube, this gloss looks like it might be in danger of delivering an 80s-tastic frosted finish that would have been right at home in the movie's flashback sequence, but actually that's just the light-reflecting pearls in the gloss. And all they do once it's on the lips is up the shine ante. Phew! According to the tube, there's also collagen-boosting ingredients to help make your lips look fuller, together with Provitamin B5 and Vitamin E help to condition them.

I do think this gloss makes my lips look slightly fuller than others and I don't need to dose them with as much lip balm as usual, so while I initially rolled my eyes at the spiel on the tube I have to admit that it does seem to deliver. It's got SPF15 in there too, so it's good for the current fine spell. It's also super sugary tasting, which I wasn't expecting to like, but actually it's utterly delicious and kinda makes me want to eat my lips and is now one of my favourite things about it. Nom.

Taste sensation aside, the colour and texture are what make it a real keeper: I got a shade called 'Happy' that is perfect for a pale but natural pink pout, and it's just opaque enough to disguise the natural orangey-redness of my lips, which few lipglosses are capable of counteracting.
