Michelle Williams: Balancing Motherhood With Work Is ‘Exhausting’

By Sheena | March 3 2015 | 4 Comments

Hats off to all single parents out there. I don’t know how you do it. Michelle Williams has admitted that being a single mother has left her feeling ‘exhausted’ all the time.

The 34-year-old actress been raising her eight-year-old daughter Matilda on her own since her ex-boyfriend Heath Ledger died in 2008, and she is finding it difficult juggling everything by herself.

Speaking in the April issue of ELLE UK magazine, she said: “I feel like I’m so good at raising a kid when I’m not working. I don’t forget anything. I’ve got everything covered. It’s a real luxury to have a moment when I’m not scrambling. I feel like most of my life, I’m trying to do two things at once, both to the best of my abilities.”

The blonde beauty’s demanding career and life as a mother has meant her social life has taken a back seat for a while.

She explained: “I’m the person who falls asleep all the time. You invite me over for dinner or to a party, and there’s a whole scrapbook of pictures of me napping. I’ve even been given a nickname because of my snoring.”

Meanwhile, Michelle tries to stay away from social networking sites but likes to read her poetry app on her phone every day.

She said: “I love poetry because it’s like a shot, like an attack, like a dose. And for a person who doesn’t have very much free time, it does its work very quickly. So I read poems on my phone when I wake up in the morning. It opens you up for the rest of the day, and suddenly your life becomes a little more observed. And when it becomes more observed, it can’t help but start to become more beautiful.”

Beats reading your emails in bed at 6:30am.

What do you find reading first thing in the morning? Poetry, emails or headlines? Or the ticker tape on Ireland AM? Or are you too busy fumbling with the coffee pot…

Poetry? Would have never occurred to me to be honest. I start the day by checking the news and if it’s not too bad I feel I can make it up out of bed and face the day…

I start the day by rolling out of bed and panicking that I have only 20 mins to get ready!

Thats kinda cute. This morning I checked FB cos I’d found a book my son had bought me and wanted to post a pic of it on his timeline – we’d been talking about it the night before. But normally, a mug of tea, a bowl of Spesh K and GMB on telly for a half hour before getting ready to check in the masses in work.

Poor old film stars, they have it rough… Maybe she could get together with Gwyneth Paltrow and they could chip in for a nanny or some staff…
