Going for Gold with Sally Hansen's New Nail Hardener

I have a feeling that the glitter switch in my brain is out of order. How else did I miss the memo that glitz is back? It's not even Christmas and Dior have a shimmery lip gloss out - in fact there's is out especially for spring! - and now I've come across Sally Hansen's 18K Gold Hardener.

The funny thing about it is how nonchalant the companies are about these glitzy products. There's a giveaway though; the glitter in the Dior Addict gloss is dubbed  ‘holographic crystals’ and the gold flakes in Sally Hansen's nail hardener are really important Real 18K Gold (yes, it's actual gold) that 'locks in moisture and strengthens nails.'

These kind of lark reminds me of when they made adult covers for the Harry Potter books.

I generally like Sally Hansen nail stuff. Last week I tried Sally Hansen Gel Shine 3D Top Coat and really liked it. I can update now that it is really long lasting, that gel finish lasts and it prevented an ordinary Catrise nail polish from chipping for about a week.

The long and short of it is that Sally Hansen's 18K Gold Hardener is a good, clear nail strengthener that happens to be flecked with gold. My nails feel very well coated with this on, in fact they feel lovely and smooth (which is the exact opposite texture you would have with a bona fide glitter polish.) Sally Hansen says that 'the gold shield forms a protective barrier to lock in moisture', but those kind of claims are of course invisible to the naked eye. Sally has a good rep though so I'll take her word.

The 18K Gold Hardener contains peptides and amino acids for nail protection, growth encouragement and increased strength. I like a nail polish type thing that's kind to my talons.

It dries super fast, in about one minute I'd say, maybe less, and I am keeping this bottle for Christmas. Not only will it be good for my nails, it will be the perfect alternative to sparkly nails that feel rough and take an aeon to remove.

Sally Hansen 18K Gold Hardener costs €9.99 and is available in selected pharmacies nationwide now!

Would you wear sparkle in the springtime? Do you like Sally Hansen products? Might you give this a try?
