A Brave Woman & Her Baby Survive 5 Days in Jungle After Plane Crash

Now this is an uplifting tale of human endurance. 18-year-old Maria Nelly Murillo and her one-year-old son were on a small Cessna plane flying produce to another part of the country when the aircraft crashed, killing the pilot.

Murillo and her son received only minor injuries as the aircraft's load of largely fish took most of the impact. The mother and baby survived by "catching rodents" and drinking coconut water, before they were rescued 5 days later.

Maria and her son had ventured away from the plane and were found by a river about 500 meters from the crash site. 'It's a miracle,' said Col. Hector Carrascal of the Colombian Air Force."
