Sneak Peek! Nars 'Laced with Edge' Collection: Sparkle with Attitude

They've only just launched the fab Audacious lipsticks (you can check out our review of them here) and we loved their seriously pigmented ways and the wonderful magnetised 'click' when you popped the lid back on that made them feel like a pricier brand. And hot on their coloured heels comes NARS' Holiday 2014 Colour Collection, Laced with Edge.

It lands at the NARS counter in Brown Thomas' shiny new beauty hall next month and, as you might expect from the brand, it eschews the classic red/gold/sparkly sparkle palette which is everywhere at this time of year. No surprise really from a brand which launched a major lipstick colour-focused collection with a black and white shot of Charlotte Rampling and one which has just announced the spectacular Tilda Swinton as a face of the brand.

Apparently the Laced with Edge collection was created for 'the future femme'. It's a compact edit of three lipsticks, three glosses, three eye shadows and three nail polishes and there’s a touch of shimmer in each.

The packaging is very pretty - a tactile digital print by architectural designer Chris Kabatsi has been placed over the NARS branding and it looks like high tech lace. But you probably want to know about what inside…

Adriatic Adriatic

First up, the trio of Hardwired Lipsticks. These lippies have a new formula and are €26 each. First up is Adriatic, a soft shimmery gold cream which would work well as an overlay or as a highlight in the centre of lips).

Deadly Catch Deadly Catch

Next up is a deep red called Deadly Catch and Femme Fleure, a brick red with gold pearl through it.

If you are more of a quick-swipe-of-gloss girl, then their lipglosses (€25 each) won't disappoint.

They come in three shades:

  • Burning Love, a bright ruby with a bit of a shimmer though it
  • Corsica, a soft pink raspberry which I have been wearing a LOT

For eyes, there's new-formula Hardwired Eyeshadows (€25 a pop) in Canberra, a gorgeous sparkly purple, Opal Coast, a shimmery white (great for accenting) and Gabon, a bronzed green.

NARS shadows have fantastic pigment strength in general and these blend into a beautiful buffed iridescence on the skin although there is quite a bit of sparkle to them as well!

Finally for the 'future femme', there is a trio of nail shades (at €19 each). Barents Sea is a deep metallic blue, Sherwood, a shimmery rose and Algonquin a beautiful sparkly lilac which worked really well with my pale-and-interesting skin tone.

So that's what Monsieur NARS has in store for us for 'the holidays'. Will you be partaking in a purchase or two?
