Do you like to regularly switch up your nail colour and is buying one shade never enough? Want the latest fashion inspired shades on your fingertips, and for less than a fiver a pop? I know I do, which is why I find Maybelline’s new range so very appealing.
The Colour Show Nail Lacquer line is a catwalk inspired range of 39 new shades, from nudes to acid brights, and pretty much everything in between. And that’s not all – to coincide with Fashion Weeks worldwide, there are plans to regularly launch capsule collections that will be influenced by the latest runway trends.
Colour Show promises true-to-bottle colour payoff with a high shine finish and easy application and for the most part I found that to be true, although the formula does seem to vary depending on the shade.
L-R: Nebline, Coral Craze, Peach Pie, Watery Waste, Power Red
Three of the five here – the appallingly named Watery Waste (let’s not even go there), Nebline (huh?) and more appealing Peach Pie (yum)- are very thin and sheer, requiring at least three coats. There’s no streakiness though, which is to their favour, and I had no issues with application or wear-time. Power Red is also on the thin side but it works, because you get a jelly-like effect which I really like, whereas Coral Craze is a nice opaque creme.
Peach Pie barely shows up on the nail wheel, so here it is on my nails – pretty, huh?
Sheer formula and naming issues aside, the beauty of this range lies in its affordability, accessibility and the huge variety of trend-led shades, so it gets a thumbs up from me. These are on counter now priced at €4.55 – have you spotted them, or tried any of the colours yourself?
