We’ve something just a little bit exciting to share with you today. You know how we’re always banging on about Estée Lauder’s tri-blend gelee powders? The hybrid formula combines the best features and benefits of powder, liquid and gel and has been used in their eyeshadows, highlighters and blushers so far to great effect.
And now, they’ve applied that same innovative technology to their foundation offering, to come up with Invisible Powder Makeup - a baked gelee powder that gives an airbrushed, high-resolution finish while looking and feeling like you’re wearing no makeup at all.

Base products have come a long way and these days we’re always hearing about makeup that feels weightless or gives a real-skin finish – and in fairness, lots of new-gen products really do deliver. But this takes it to the next level – Invisible Makeup is absolutely the perfect name. It really looks and feels like you’re wearing nothing at all (ON YOUR FACE, Mum, don’t be worrying!), but are just one of those irritating women with perfectly beautiful skin.

Texture wise, the powder feels like suede in the pan and silk on the skin. The formula is an air-infused blend of pigments and optics so it’s light, luminous and breathable, but without compromising on coverage. I’d describe it as light to medium, but buildable, and enough to even out the skintone and reduce the appearance of pores.
Oh, and while we’re talking about skintones, Estée Lauder has designed this range to be as accessible as possible for a whole range of skintones and ethnicities. 14 shades are available, from lightest to deepest, and they cater for a range of different undertones, too.
There’s some colour correcting and adaptive technology going on too – the shade I was sent (#3CN1) looks way too golden-toned for me in the pan but on my skin, it works out ok – I look a little bit like Marge Simpson but I think it will be handy coming into summer. (As an aside, I was asked on a post if I am ever sent the right shade of foundation and very rarely, is the answer, although on occasion brands do think to ask ahead and for that foresight I will love them longtime.)
The product comes housed in the brand’s signature navy compact, with a double-side applicator – there is a spongey side for fuller coverage and a velvety side if you prefer it more sheer (which I do, not least because of the Marge Simpson effect). It works best when applied in light downward strokes and you can wear it alone or, for a really perfected look, layered over Estee Lauder’s Invisible Fluid Makeup.
