Finally a fashion trend perfect for the Irish cailín – knitwear!
From cute cardigans with fine patterns to more chunky knit sweaters in sharp or natural colours, there is a huge range out there with the look varying from country casual to sexy street.
For the country casual look there are soft and comfy cardigans and jumpers.
To get this look, wear your geansaí with jeans or leggings tucked into knee high boots. As an alternative and my personal favourite, wear a belt with a long chunky knit cardigan and you have a great look for weekends. Big, cosy knits worn like this can take you from town, to the couch and out to the pub. Comfy, warm and stylish, boyfriend cardigans are also really easy to wear.
If any of you watched Styled to Rock you would have seen Nicola Roberts wearing a lot of jumpers, no doubt many of them from the collection of Henry Holland, fellow mentor on the show. Can’t say I liked too many of them but these two are cute and not that expensive for designer jumpers.
The high street look is bright and bold, often with a graphic print in neoprene or oversized with cocoon sleeves. These are fashion statement sweaters. Team your favourite knit with a pencil skirt or skinny jeans for an effortlessly cool look.
Check out slogan sweaters that scream designer and was a look worn by Alexa Chung, Kate Moss and Laura Bailey during London Fashion Week.
It’s great to finally be able to wear something warm and know that you are stylish too.
Just don’t tell Gran, she might decide to knit you one for Christmas!
