Put Down The Cheese: What Are Your New Year’s Resolutions?

By Beaut.ie | January 1 2012 | 40 Comments

new year's resolutions

Oh, I might have dreamed of – and gotten – a mild Christmas, but I also got a calorie-laden one. I dunno about you, but this year, there was no piece of Cashel Blue too far for moi. No glass of white wine I wouldn’t drink and no Rose I would I baulk at eating. Even the caramel barrels. Yes. EVEN those.

It’s safe to say my main resolution is to go on a diet, toot sweet.

What about you? Got anything lined up on your list o’ things you intend to do for 2012? Get fit, learn a new language, master the art of driving a car, learn cordon bleu cookery, ditch cleansing wipes, learn how to blend, get a new hobby, find a new job, achieve a work/life balance (I might look into this one meself), quit the shopaholia, start a savings account, investigate a pension, buy a house, save and splurge on your first designer purchase, go on an amazing holiday, write a book, start a blog – oh, the possibilities are endless.

Happy New Year Ladies!!! I’ll start by saying I probably need a new job as I’ve been in work since 8am this morning but the main goal this year is LOSE WEIGHT!! This is the year I’m going to get fit and healthy. Looking forward to 2012 :) The high’s + lows, up’s + down’s and that bit in the middle ;) Bring it!!

  • The ones I take every year, and never follow:
    - stop smoking
    - drink less
    - save money instead of splurging at every occasion

The ones I may follow this year:
    - keep blogging and try to provide quality content
    - get braces fitted so I can smile without being self conscious
    - be nicer to LeColloc who is always so nice to me
    - change job!

    Happy New Year girls!

  • Oh and trying to apply body lotion after every shower, instead of once in a blue moon!

  • Jus realised my first comment isn’t up!
I could say I will stop smoking, spend less money and do more around the house.
But since there’s no way it will happen, I will instead try to keep blogging, change job and be nicer to LeColloc who is so nice to me!

Hehe – just had last night’s left over cheese for breakfast!! Have loads of resolutions but need to write them down and actually come up with a plan of how I’m going to do them otherwise I’ll do nothing.

Buying a house has been on the list for the last three years but the right house has not yet come along… fingers crossed.

My main thing is to get in better shape in time for my friend’s wedding in May – execution of this will be easier when I know whether I’m going to be in the UK for next 3/4 months.

The main thing is complete wardrobe overhaul and only buying properly special things this year; no more asos/forever21 binges, more time on fashion blogs, learning how to accessorise… just taking it to the next level. Self-centered and frivolous, but I’m ok with that :)

    Pants – apologies for DP!

Going to try to be more organised i.e. work clothes ready the night before, or shock, every Sunday night be organised for the week!!
Spend a bit more time on myself pampering etc. – really let this slide last yr as I still have some body products I got for xmas last year!
Stop leaving it to the last minute to get out of bed for work so I am not tearing in trying not to be late and being stressed before I even get to my desk.
Plan weekends better so I get things done!
Keep on track of housework (espc. bathroom) so I don’t end up having to do a monster clean every few weeks!!
Read more instead of watching crap TV in bed.
Get more excercise and keep at goal weight.
Keep track of spending and try to save more.
    Pay off the credit card!!

Kirstie – the comment about eating even the Caramel barrels in the tin of Roses made me laugh so much! I did that last night

My number one resolution for this year is to GET ORGANISED

This is my number one resolution every year and it hasn’t happened yet…

  • Kirstie says:

caramel barrels are VILE. But still, when in semi food coma, I’ll eat ‘em.

  • dublinista says:

Change jobs, be more positive, give up sweets (for January anyway!), buy less clothes, finish all the books in the pile beside my bed before buying more/ use the library more, learn to meditate properly, be a more tolerant mother, run a half marathon in less than two hours. Oh, and give up wine (also for January anyway).

  • obsession says:

I had a massive spot today and just had to squeeze it (I know I know but you should have seen the monster) and I was afraid carmel would come out of it I’ve eaten that many chocolates! Top of my list is to loose a bit of weight and get back exercising. Also want to get my little sideline etsy shop ready for spring/summer with lots of new items and would love to do an evening class in dressmaking and upcycle some of the clothes lurking in my wardrobe that I cannot bear to part with! Oh and come to terms with my Chanel addiction soon..

  • sevda says:

I think you’re too harse the caramel barrels. What about the strawberry and coffee ones. I cannot eat the strawberry ones at all.

I put a post up on the forums saying I intend to make a dress.

  • Kirstie says:

with you on the strawberry ones – dee sgust ing. I like the coffee ones!

  • Surfguna says:

I’m hoping to run the Achill half marathon with at least one of my housemates.

  • sevda says:

I agree the coffee aren’t too bad but to some people they are the antisweet.

I think households are split into either strawberry or coffee sweets left rattling about in the roses tin.

  • boredmum says:

eh leave the strawberry ones for me so, i love them, and caramel barrells, yum yum, my kids eat the whole blooody lot of them, i got about 2 out of the whole tin, raging,

this year i am going to pay off my credit card, and also taking it out of my purse and leaving it at home,

Every year i say i will quit smoking, i usually do for about 2 months and end up back on them, so this year i’m making the hubby give up with me, so fingers crossed we will be able to do it, i’m sick of grey skin and feeling tired, and having no money

  • Chris says:

Put down the cheese? Not the brie!!! :D

I plan on taking better care of my skin (I am reaching “that age”) and stepping up my game when it comes to hunting for makeup gigs.

  • thefrog says:

    Happy new year every one!

Cashel blue… I’m lucky we can’t get it here, otherwise I would eat far too much cheese.

Resolutions: my first one was on the “get fit” line of thought, but when I saw the picture with the post, I realised that “enjoy life’ might be a good one too…

    So:
    - start yoga;
    - take more pictures (and master the menu of the digital camera);
    - be positive and enjoy life.

Really hope this year won’t be as gloomy as the last.
