Anne Hathaway’s new ‘do: would you dare to go this short?

By Aisling | May 16 2012 | 46 Comments

Anne Hathaway’s cut off her long lustrous gruaig for her part as Fantine in Les Miserables.

And she’s really gone for the chop in a big way.  Looking at the pictures of her I think it looks good: but it got me thinking.  Could I do it?  Would I do it?

The answer I know is no way – I’d be far too chicken.  Cutting off your hair is brave.  There’s a certain comfort blanket effect with long hair – you do feel you can hide behind it.  Plus I don’t have the face shape to wear short hair.

But what about you?  Dare to go for a really close crop?

I did when I was younger, about 16. I cried that night coz all i wanted to do was brush my hair!! Hated it, but it was my choice, my parents begged me not to do it.

i cut my hair from waist length into a victoria beckham bob couple of yrs ago. then i wanted to go shorter. Glad i didnt though.

Not sure if it suits Anne.. it kinda looks like she did it herself?

I had hair like this last year and it took a lot of getting used to, my hair was shoulder length before. I grew ( haw haw) to love it but I’m glad I have my shoulder length hair back now! Maybe it’s because she seems like a lovely person but I think Anne Hathaway can do no wrong, I think she looks fabulous all the time.

No – would love, love, LOVE short hair but my head is simply too big. I’d look like a lollipop.

  • I am still traumatised from when I went this short before – and it was about 15 years ago. So no, no amount of money would persuade me to do it again!

I had a one-blade when I was about nineteen, and I have to say I absolutely loved it. I felt almost extra-feminine in it, as if the lack of hair actually highlighted my best features.

Also two fantastic things happened: a) I never ever got bothered on my way home at night, and b) men had a built-in excuse to chat me up “can I rub your head?”. It was great, I still have such fond memories.

I found longer hair than that too faffy, as you had to style it and all the rest, ugh. Now I have long blonde hair which is OK, I guess, but i still long for my baldy days. :)

  • Nah, my face is too fat for a short hair do, wouldn’t suit me at all.

I think it looks great on Anne. Sure she’s stunning, tall and thin. Anything would look good on her.

I was totally bald thanks to fecking chemo just over a year ago! Shaved my head for charity in front of a packed pub! I have an afro now and miss my long hair terribly and can’t wait for it to grow! Would never (if I have a choice) cut my hair that short again! It suits some people, but not me!

Went from long to this short last year, just with a longer fringe. Took a bit of getting used to but loved it.
Growing it back now, have a wedding later this year and don’t want to have ‘experimental hair’ in the pics! Might do it again though…
