What’s Been Your Favourite New Beauty Discovery?

By Beaut.ie | April 1 2011 | 70 Comments

omg!

You know when you get all LeAnn Rimes’ ass on a product?

How do I live without you
I want to know
How do I breathe without you
If you ever go
How do I ever, ever survive?
How do I
How do I
Oh how do I live?…

Hey, I think we can all empathise with the oDdly caSed LeAnn, even if it was a mere man she was emoting about. So tell me now and tell me no more, what beauty-based bits have you discovered recently you truly madly deeply* cannot be without?

*intensely proud of self for most MOR mentions in a post ever. Now off to listen to a Hot Snakes album and whip myself with my Ted Leo scarf to make up for it.

Avon Luxe Lace SuperShock Eyeliner Gel – for waterline especially (discovered thanks to you beaut-ies!!!) and Estee Lauder’s Maximum Cover Foundation…others can be replaced :)

  • Kirstie says:

The new Chanel foundation is a huge keeper for me, Vitalumiere Aqua, except the shade I have is too dark, but it’s so gorgeous. I should actually review it, really, shouldn’t I?

  • Twinkletoes says:

Oh Kirstie, do review the Chanel! Will probably be too late for me as I was planning on an airport purchase of it on Monday, but sounds like it’s worth it :D

  • LuLuBabe says:

Moroccan oil – changed my life.
I’m also probably addicted to CDLM The Eye Balm Intense.

  • BerG says:

The new Lancome Teint Miracle foundation. Finally found my HG base. It leaves skin luminous and its nice and light, economical too, as one pump does me.

  • Dobby says:

Nuxe Lip balm as recommended by Xgirl AGES ago (I only bought it recently) – it’s magic!

  • Dobby says:

Also L’Occitaine Ultra Comforting Cream – excellent stuff. Bought both of those things during the snow – it was good for something obviously!

  • dublinista says:

I’ll second the Vitalumiere Aqua – the best foundation I’ve ever had. The Maybelline gel liner and Mac’s lip pencil in Fuchsia.

  • xgirl says:

Only started using it this week, but loving Clean Energy oil cleanser from Origins – watch this space for a review!

  • alchemystee says:

    Clarins Everlasting Foundation!

I’m gonna throw a wild guess that Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua isn’t one for us oily gals :D

Eve Lom products. I love them but can’t afford them. Since giving them up I’ve 1) spent way more that I would have on Eve Lom trying to find a subsitute 2) My skin is crap compared to what it was with Eve Lom.

    (I’m in a whingey mood)

  • Emz says:

New to me in the last year: Eve Lom Cleanser – love it!

Xgirl – the Origins oil is great, a little goes a long way.

Was thinking the same thing as alchemystee – would love to try this and the other luminescent foundations but don’t want to end up looking even greasier!

  • Kirstie says:

yep, Chanel VA is a glowy base, so no good for oily gals, it’d run right off I reckon

  • alchemystee says:

Thanks Kirstie, will save my pennies for something else :)

My current HG foundation is Armani Face Fabric with Laura Mercier mineral finishing powder. My new HG base, yet I got up this morning thinking about purchasing the Chanel Vitalumiere next with the MUFE HD powder. Why oh why do I always change after finding HG products, only to return the the HG again? Must be the power of suggestion on beauty websites * light bulb turns on in sluggish brain*

Au contraire I bought Bobbi Brown cleansing oil and I am seriously underwhelmed. Skin doesn’t feel as squeeky clean as it would with Liz Earle, or look as good and I have panda eyes in the morning. Rant over, back to Liz Earle for me.

I forgot to mention, Origins, Vita-Zing SPF15 moisturiser. Its brilliant, i wear it on weekends, to even out my skin tone, as i don’t have time for makeup on Saturday mornings. It has something in it that adjusts to your skin and gives you a natural glow. Not a tinted moisturiser but so much better, it gives a lovely finish and its nice and light. Was very skeptical to begin with but i will definately be repurchasing.

    This stuff!

Picked up on a total whim in House Of Fraser a few months back and I’ve ended up using it every day: it’s a spot-on match for my skin tone, just enough coverage, doesn’t make me break out despite high SPF, and apparently has good-for-skin gubbins in it. Again, probably not for oily peeps as it’s quite “glowy”.

Also Benefit Sugarbomb blush: it’s the perfect wakey-uppy shade on me.

Oh, and I can also see myself developing an unholy devotion to Origins Plantscription serum and any and all Lipstick Queen lippies – the colours! the pigmentedness! (is that a word?)

  • Lisa says:

Oh yeah, seconding the Vita-Zing! Also my weekend non-makeup makeup du jour.

  • BadGal says:

Really loving my Elemis pro radiance cleanser. Got a free toner with it and will definitely by repurchasing. Its great for my combination dehydrated skin and seems to suit me better than the Liz Earle one.
