Rimmel Handbag Organiser: where have you been all my life?

By Aisling | December 9 2011 | 32 Comments

I’m one of those people who came into the world disorganised.   I can never find anything.  I find it virtually impossible to be on time for anything despite my best attempts.   Almost every week I have to buy a new mascara/lipbalm (see what everyone’s using right now) because I’ve carelessly mislaid the five dozen I aready have. I can tear the house apart looking for my keys – only to discover them at the bottom of my bag under a tissue.  Where I could have SWORN I looked first.

You get the picture.

And to compound my little er behavioural problem, I like to change bags – a lot.  So the dumping of “stuff” from one to another invariably leaves things behind in one of the previous bags – which results in much cursing, swearing and screaming as I can’t find, for example, my phone.  Or that fifty quid I just KNOW is in one of them.  Somewhere.

So when Rimmel sent me this little red bag I was interested.   Tough and waterproof, it’s a storage bag with loads of pockets for makeup, diary, phone, keys, bankcard: basically all the crap you need to survive on a daily basis.  And it’s working!  When you change bags you just lift out the organiser and put it in the bag you’re using that day.  It’s brilliant.

Just one thing to say here really.   Where have you been all my life Handbag Organiser?
Handbag organiser Gift With Purchase when you spend €15 or more on Rimmel products from pharmacies and selected department stores nationwide.  Just to note: it’s only the bag yer getting: it’s NOT full of all the stuff in the pic – that’s just to give you the idea!

Oh *need*! This is brilliant. I was going to pick up some Rimmel bits at the weekend. Now I definitely will.

Fraid this would be as useful as an ashtray on a motorbike to me cos I’m quite sickeningly organised and don’t like clutter so my handbag, which is a big one btw, is very well kept. I like everything in its place and I’m the same at home. I know where everything is and have a place for everything :-)

kittyKat – wish I was as organised as you. I’ve had 2 mini panic attacks when I couldn’t find my phone. In my bag both times!!

This looks amazing and I have just sent it to my Mum as a potential stocking filler hint! I also change handbags ALL the time so it really would save a lot of time.

Oh no, I’m not even organised enough to use one of these!

This is good value, as you’d spend €15 on Rimmel without blinking.

Last year I bought a set of 3 organisers on QVC (cheapest I could find, tbh) and it’s brilliant as it’s open and flat and has handles so it lifts out easily. Came in 2 sizes – one for mahooosive bags and one for medium bags, and a makeup bag was the third thing. Bloody good value and it’s CHANGED. MY. LIFE.

Not to sound dramatic or anything….

(It’s by Lori Greiner if anyone’s interested – she of the infamous “makeup turntable storage wonder yoke”)

I got one of these as a pressie before but had terrible time trying to keep IT organised.
I ended up with double the cr4p in my handbag.

There is a version of this at Penney’s stores for 3 euro if anyone is interested in a more economical version that doesn’t require the purchase. It comes in black and pink (stock seems to vary by store, I find) and it is dead handy. Same idea in slightly different shape, but also made of sturdy material that is cleanable with a damp cloth in case of spills. Just lift out and transfer to a different bag! I bought several for Christmas gifts and a couple for myself at that price.

    I will have

I love it. I’m similar to you Kirstie, sickeningly organised but I do love me some storage options. You’d want to see me in Ikea, have to be dragged out.

I don’t have any Rimmel makeup at all – can anyone recommend some (non-foundation) must haves so I can get this with a semi-clear conscience?

    Loving this idea!
Fuffyhead, the Kate Moss lippies have got great reviews, i haven’t got them myself though. I do have some other rimmel lippies – usually buy brights or fad colours that I wouldn’t wear alot but I’m normally very happy with them, they do the job!
Lip liners and kohl eye liners are good too and the brow pencils aren’t bad.
And the nail polishes aren’t bad either – i like the fan brush ones :)

  • Aifs says:

Fuffyhead – yes indeed! I have 3 of the Kate Moss Lipsticks. In 01 (Gorgeous vibrant red) and 08 (not a nude but a nice neutral lip colour). I really like them. Their nail polishes are also great. I’ve heard good things about their face powders too but I’m not a big powder user. I’m not a fan of their mascaras.

Pennys have black and pink ones for three euro. They are slightly bulkier than the nice rimmel one. Online they are crazy prices like e25.00. Wise invention!

  • miamee says:

Fluffyhead, second the Kate Moss nude lipstick, it’s great for someone like me, who’s not huge into lippies, it gives a nice muted colour. Also the Rimmel glameyes liquid eyeliner is one of my favourite products full stop…it has a lovely brush, easy to use and does the job really well!

    Hmm…how big is this bag?

  • Banjaxed says:

hmmm… I’m not sure… It would depend on the size of it really. My handbags are all different sizes so not sure if it would fit them all, must go have a look at it tomorrow!

I had a little purse thing that came with a hand bag that zipped up – it was a *lot* smaller than this but I used it for essentials to transfer from bag to bag. You know – emergency sanitary towel, mini pack of tissues lipbalm, blotting paper, paracetemol if I wasn’t well etc etc. Was brilliant but of course I lost it somewhere moving house and it hasn’t appeared again. Great idea.

It’s a pity the Rimmel one doesn’t come in black because you’d see that a mile off when you open your bag!

  • stace-invader says:

hmmm I think it might end up being another thing I’ll lose in one of (possibly too) many bags might give the pennys one a go seems its so cheap

I am a disorganized person working for disorganized people – I’m an artists assistant, and in a bout of pre-exhibition stress, we accidentally (well, obv.) enclosed the woman I’m working for’s iPhone in a frame. A big one, needing careful handling by several people, and bound for shipping a few hours later – hence the stress. We only noticed half an hour later, when I was called on my phone because she wasn’t answering hers.
I’m thinking some kind of nifty chain system would be good, as well??! Or possibly a proximity alarm. Or nice, practical cyborg-y extra parts.
