Stila Kajal liner in Topaz Apricot Nude is Brilliant for Red Eyes

Stila pencil for red eyes

If you’d told me a couple of weeks ago that my new can’t-live-without morning pick-me-up was going to be a peach eyeliner, I’d have done an Elaine Bennis on it, shoved you so hard you nearly fell over and exclaimed “gedaudda here!”

But it’s TRUE! I am in love with a gick-looking peach pencil, Stila Kajal liner in Topaz Apricot Nude and it’s all because it makes me look bright eyed and bushy tailed when I most definitely am not.

I’m using this lightly on the lower waterline and it makes a real difference to red, tired-looking eyes. Much easier to wear than a white liner which always looks harsh, peach and pink shades blend with my pale skintone better and my previous go-to before this had been Benefit’s Eye Bright.

I’d be lying if I said it stayed put all day because on me it definitely doesn’t – but I do have a habit of rubbing my eyes so that’d be a contributory factor. It’s very creamy, super-easy to apply and there’s no drag. You could set it with a small brush and some powder for extra longevity but for me that’s too much hassle in the morning, so I leave as is, and it’s definitely doing the trick until I get my 4th coffee into me.

All in all, not a particularly earth shattering buy but something the  pale-skinned and red of eye might find really useful. Mine was sent as a testing sample, you can bag one now for £8.99 from Beautyfragrances.

Sorry being dumb….where is the “lower waterline”?

  • Kirstie says:

not at all Artdeco – it’s the little ‘lip’ of flesh above the lower lashes, right by the eyeball. It can often be very red or pink and make you look tired.

This is a great tip, thanks Kirstie. I used to wear white liner on my water line but haven’t done for years but could definitely do with something in the mornings to perk up my eyes. Will have to pick one up next time I am near a Stila counter.

Hmm, it looks a little like a concealer pencil!

I’ve been using Gosh’s Velvet Touch Eyeliner in Bananas (as recommended by ;)) every day recently – on and smudged under my lower water line – and I keep getting compliments!

I think have it for E4.37 , cheaper! I find it a bit too peach, but have used it on occasion. dying to try one of the MAc chromagraphic pencils that do the same type of job.

sounds deadly, I could definitely do with something like this

Best one I ever used is Laura Mercier’s ‘Fair’ pencil…I think it’s meant for teeny coverups like veins or something, but it stays put on inner eyelid really well, and is fragrance free. Also brilliant for any red bits round the nose, which we find as we get older….sigh.

Yer man isn’t rocking the red eye quite as sexily as Eric Northman, is he? This sounds good, was also thinking of trying the pencil Chanel have out in the AW collection, looks like it would be good for this purpose too.

  • scarie says:

    Eric Northman *swoon*

  • jessibelle says:

    Thirding the Northman love :D

Would this work with a near baby pink liner also? essence have a beautiful one at the moment that I want to use but have no idea as to the were and how…

Still haven’t ordered this after nobbleynoo recommended it on the forums as cheaper alternative to the Chanel one (which is getting a lot of props in various mags). Must just order one today!

  • Alethea says:

I’m also with ye on Eric Northman-definite swoon :-) Especially since he got his hair cut ;-)

I love this trick, i get really red eyes when i’m wrecked, always bring illamasqua’s pencil in vow to college with me, definitely a HG product!

  • LuLuBabe says:

I use the chanel nude pencil for this, but it’s running short. I might have to pick this up nexst time I’m stateside.

  • Annie says:

MUFE’s Aqua Eyes pencil in Champagne is very good for this too. I find it stays on the waterline much better than the Stila.

Paula Dorf makes a good pencil too called baby eyes Enhancer. It glides on and stays on. Also, Pixi the Eye Bright Liner.

I have one of the MAC chromographic pencils in NW15/NW20 and it does a great job of keeping redness at bay! I also use to line just outside my lipline when wearing red or dark lipstick.

I use Max Factor Kohl Pencil in Natural Glaze and it works great and stays on my waterline forever!!! It’s 9 euros at Debenhams. I got the suggestion from MissChievous on Youtube. She uses that.
