Brow Brilliance: Clinique Instant Lift for Brows

By | February 17 2010 | 12 Comments

I’m a weeny bit obsessed with my brows. Y’know, just a smidge. In fact it’s fair to say we’re a blog obsessed with brows actually and only too keenly eager to test and try all manner of new brow bits as they arrive on counter. Hard auld life.

One I’ve had in the ‘oh Kirstie would you ever get a wriggle on and test it’ pile was the new Instant Lift for Brows by Clinique. At €17, this isn’t a bad price, and makes for an affordable Saturday splurge. Double-ended, it’s got a coloured brow wax on one end and a shimmery highlighter for use beneath the brow on the other.

Available in three shades (Soft Blonde, Soft Brown and Deep Brown), the darkest is the one for me. What’s good about this is the ease of use and speed – yeah, you’ll get the most pro-of-pro finishes with powder and a brush, but sometimes you just want to get the job done quickly and this is the boyo for that. There’s no paring required, you just twist up, lightly draw onto brows and you’re all set – the fact it’s wax based means unruly hairs can be kept in place too.

I’m not a fan of the under-brow highlighter though, it’s just too shimmery for my liking. But it’s a nice consistency and applies easily too – the pearlised effect isn’t one I like but I’m sure lots of others will. All in all, this is a great buy.

I was looking at this online and in a few mags. I thought it looked right down my alley. I like a shimmer on the brown bone. Though, now I have the Bobbi Brown eyebrow pencil I think I am satisfied :)

you could probably use the highlighter on your cheeks or as an eyeshadow! multi functional!

I really like it. It’s quite soft and doesn’t leave obvious pencil marks and lasts the day.
I am using the blonde shade, this one shall not be going to the swap siopa!

    Hi Girls,

    First Time Commenter *cowers meekly*.
Just wondering, since you were talking brows, do any of you rate Chanel’s Le Sourcil De Chanel. I got it as an Xmas present and dont know how on earth to use it. On the rare occasion that I do, I would give Nosferatu a run for his money with the darkness of my brows!I am not entirely sure if it even a wax or a powder! Help!

Hi Caroline, I’ve never used the Chanel one myself, but got the new BB eyebrow pencil in Ash and love it. Very subtle, great for defining without making your brows too dark (which on me looks scary).

Oooohh! Defo one for me when my Brows-A-Go-Go kit kicks the bucket!

This sounds really nice. Think I need to give up for lent *sobs inconsolably at the mere thought*. Every week I keep saying I’m not going to buy any beauty booty this week and then up pops something else I absolutely NEED. I likes a bit of shimmer on the aul brow bone and a no pare pencil sounds rather appealing.

Love the sound of this, but it will have to wait for payday!

I tried this yesterday and hated it. I think I really just had a bad experience with the saleslady. She told me to try the medium shade, soft brown I think which I thought looked too dark for me and as soon as I put it on I thought I looked like a clown. I also thought the texture and shape was wrong. It looked liked I’d applied a crayon to my browns. Think I’l stick with the Bobbi Brown shadow I’m using on my brows at present.
