Rate it: Night Cream

night cream

I must admit that I have a bit of an ulterior motive in posting this Rate It. I’ve been using Liz Earle’s Superskin moisturiser all winter, but now that the weather is warming up, it’s a bit too rich for my skin. I need something new and I’m not sure what to try.

So tell me – what are you using on your skin while you get your beauty sleep and do you love it enough to recommend it?

Dior HydrActive rich cream is my nightcream of choice at the moment (going through my third pot). I love it and would recommend to people with sensitive combination skin.

  • MontyC says:

At the moment, I’m using Clarins multi active night prevention plus cream (phew, what a mouthful!) and it’s lovely.

However, I’m also going to try something different once I use up the current pot.

I’ll be trying REN Frankincense & Boswellia Serrata Revitalising Repair Cream (which is even more of a mouthful!)

Neutrogena Light Night Cream does a wonderful job. When just I put on the night cream, it is a bit on the greasy side (maybe due to my oily skin). But in the morning when I wake up, my skin looks so subtle and smooth.

The price is really reasonable as well. I purchased mine during my last trip to Asia. It cost about 7 euros.

  • I was using that Clarins, but at 60 euros a jar I decided to try something a little cheaper. I went for Boots Protect and Perfect. Not exactly cheap at 30, but it’s good. Possibly a bit too light for the winter, but fine for the next few months.

I am using the H2o+ Night Oasis, its lovely.

  • Twinkletoes says:

I’m using that REN Frankincense & Boswellia…it is fab.

  • Kirstie says:

I’m still lashing on the oils at night and lancome genefique, which I am really liking.

  • Princess Lisa says:

I use the Decleor ylang ylang night balm but am also going to get the REN Frankincense & Boswellia Serrata Revitalising Repair Cream when that’s used up. I like the balm but I have this two tiny little red marks from spots on my cheek and I hear the REN is good for clearing them up…somthing to do with frankincense.

  • Hannah says:

I use Dermalogica Skin Smoothing Cream at night and sometimes a bit of LE Superskin Concentrate. The LE Superskin Moisturiser was way too rich for me and made me blotchy – even though I have dry skin.

If money were no object I would def. buy La Mer again…gorgeous cream and made my skin look fab but would only use it for night time and non-make-up days/weekends.

Has anyone an Olay night cream? I’m thinking of purchasing but have to use up all the other creams I have first!

  • ceci says:

I got a sample of the REN night cream that a few people have mentioned and I really like it, so think that will be my next purchase. I also like an oil that REN do, leaves the skin nice and soft the next day.

  • sweetie1 says:

LOVIN’ the vichy normaderm nuit at the moment. Just been using it a couple of weeks and my skin has cleared up no end. It’s surprisingly hydrating too. I’ve combo skin – oily T prone to spots and dry cheeks.

  • sarah says:

Sweetie1… I got a sample of the vichy normaderm nuit… and after a couple of days my skin has improved no end. was using liz earle cleanser + toner + the normal moisturiser and thing the combo was too rich for my combo skin, was waking up with lovely smooth oil slick..
But now using Liz earle cleanser + norma derm nuit and waking up sans oily forhead and
with much clearer skin… definitely recommend for those prone to breakouts but also those who are prone to dryness.

I have just finished using yes to carrots night cream. I thought it was pretty useless! felt way too light for a night cream and my face did not look any the better of it….then again maybe i need a new face!
Would love to try eliz arden good night sleep, its meant to be excellent but at approx €50 a jar, i cant afford at the mo.

  • cathyfly says:

I’ve tried a good few in the last year – still looking for the Holy Grail!
Good Night Sleep by Elizabeth Arden and Hydra Zen Nuit by Lancome were probably the best of the ‘night creams’ I tried and would buy again.

Currently alternating between Dermalogica Skin Smoothing cream at night (which I also use for day in cold weather) and Bio Oil once or twice a week. Bio Oil is a surprisingly good option for night time!

The Yes to Carrots night cream initially made my skin really soft but then started to bring me out in a rash. Waking up spotty isn’t a good look!

  • sarah says:

Ditto on the uselessness of the yes to carrots one. I only used it a couple of times and didn’t like, so used the rest for my bum, and knees with better results.:-P

  • cathyfly says:

Haha Sarah – night cream for your bum! I think you may have invented a whole new product niche there….genius.

  • Sandra says:

Enjoying a combination of 1. SBC gels cos can lather them on thickly at night and not break the budget 2. bnatural Organis Facial oil from Tesco. Then 3. on with the Lidl night moisturiser.

Some nights only use one of these, some nights all 3 – depending on my skin and on how much energy I have!

  • KellBell says:

I alternate between leaf & Rusher’s Active Serum & Tx Formula and then on alternate nights Rosehip Oil

  • Charan says:

I have just started using bio-oil as my night cream. Its light without feeling greasy and it smells wonderful..
