Luscious Lashes with L’Oreal Paris Renewal Lash Serum?

We’ve seen tons of innovation from L’Oreal Paris recently, some of it better than others – I don’t think too many of us were impressed with the paint-roller effect foundation – and here’s even more. They’re busy bees in the L’Oreal labs and I think this product will find favour with lots of you.

But before I begin, lets get something crystal clear: this product does NOT cause hair to grow. If it did, it would be a medicine, the licence-to-print-money grail the beauty industry have been seeking for decades, and men the world over would be falling down dead to get their hands on it. Ok. Got that straight? Lets get down to brass tacks, so.

Renewal Lash Serum comes in two varieties: a solo Renewal Lash Serum, €16.99, and a dual Double Extension serum/mascara variety, also €16.99. The single product you can use at night or under the mascara of your choice; the double-ended doofer contains a serum-infused primer as well as regular mascara top-coat.

What these products do is condition and deliver nutrients to lashes to encourage them to be lovely and lush and thick.  Using arginine, one of the main amino acids found in keratin (which is what hair is made up from), the serum helps to make lashes strong and conditioned as they grow.

So who’s it for? If you’ve got an abundant Cheryl Cole-esque fringe of lashes then you’re probably grand. But if you’ve lashes that are thin or prone to breaking, then this could be a good buy. But what it won’t do is grow you new lashes – just condition, support and reinforce what you already have.

What do you reckon though – would you buy?

I always thought that phase was brass tax, like pennies! Oh wow….now I feel stupid!

I’m sorry I know Im going off topic but while your on lash improving products, I thought Id mention what I’ve been using for the last month… Cargo LashActivator. I’ve been using it religiously for the last month and I’ve really seen a difference in my lashes. They look fuller and longer…I’m sure the product hasn’t actually made my lashes grow but maybe nourished them?? I dunno, but I’m not complaining, I think my lashes could now compete with Cheryl Cole’s! For anyone interested it’s about 25euro, I got mine in Boots Liffey Valley (I think it’s only available from the larger Boots).

I tried this, my lashes have stopped falling out as much as they did and look lovely and lush. The one problem is the texture. It dries to a tacky/gluey finish, which means that in the morning I have to peel the damn stuff off my lashes, (it is nigh on impossible to wash off). If you miss a spot when trying to remove it it looks like you painted your lashes with PVA glue and it went all peely. That and any trace on your lashes instantly messes with your mascara and makes it look incredibly clumpy and odd.

Excellent review of the lash serum. I saw it advertised in a UK glossy but I thought it wouldn’t be available here. For some reason I was misled into thinking it makes lashes grow. Thank you for explaining it properly. I’d like to try it anyway so it’s on my beauty shopping list!

I use something from the US called Lilash. I have been using it for about a month now and my eyelashes have definitely grown longer and silkier – check out the reviews on the web, its amazing!!!

Hi… I started using this last week because when I remove my mascara I always lose a few lashes and thought this might do the trick to strengthen them. Only thing is I was surprised at the “brush” applicator. I just assumed it would have been the same as a mascara brush. Anyone have any tips about how to use the applicator properly?? When I use it my lashes seem to just clump together

I’m on my second tube of this product. I absolutely LOVE it!!! Wearing it right now!

Linda- I had trouble at first also, but I don’t really focus on whether my eyelashes clump or not. When I start to apply it, I put a good amount ON TOP of the lashes and then brush the excess on the lashes like you would mascara.

I’ve noticed my lashes almost never fall out due to me…only on their own and that’s hardly ever.

The thing i love the MOST about this product is that it works for your EYEBROWS too!!

I’m a big eyebrow person so i decided to try it on the ends of my brows to make them grow in a little more, and within a week and a half i already started to notice them look longer! I have been applying it every night for about a 2 months and my eyebrows are the longest they have been in a loooong time! I just couldn’t believe that it actually conditioned that area that had such sparse hairs to grow…after such a long time with no hair there at all. Absolutely fantastic!!!!

I tried this without results, but I’ve been using this Xlash eyelash serum and that one did work. Really amazed
