Line Up (and be Bravehearted): NARS' New Eyeliner Stylo

nars

I don't generally get down with those felt-tip style eyeliners, always preferring a brush. But then NARS' just-about-to-arrive-on-counter Eye Stylo in Blue Bayou, €24, appeared and sure I had to give it a go. You know how it is.

What puts me off this sort of product is that the felt tips can often be harsh, cause drag and they quite frankly hurt. I don't do pain combined with makeup application, so I don't really go that route with liner ever. But this is nice and soft, goes on smoothly and doesn't cause jagged edges which basically look like a particularly artistically-challenged three-year-old dragged it across your eyeball.

The colour is great, it's much more of a teal than a blue and if it'd been around in William Wallace's day  he'd have been away on a hack for frightening the English. Forget woad, this is the bomb for face painting because another plus point here is its longevity.

Any downsides? Eh yeah. Its longevity. It doesn't come off easily and tattoos itself to your lids, causing me to squeak and worry that I'd be left like that forever. Something oily like Clinique's Take the Day off does shift it after a while (I'd recommend checking Lynnie's eye makeup removal tips to avoid scrubbing) but to prevent it getting such a lock on my lids in future I'll use a base shadow or a primer (which it doesn't need for longevity reasons mentioned above) to give me that bit of a barrier.

Thumbs up though, Monsieur Nars: you've done it again.
