Commenty Central: The Best of the Week on Beaut.ie

It was another comment-filled week on Beaut.ie as we dissected the important topics of the day: what aged elephants prefer for moisturisation, the contents of our desk drawers and last week's Oxegen festival were all up for discussion over the last seven days.

On Wednesday xgirl revealed something interesting about the aforementioned octogenarian elephants at Belfast Zoo: the recent spell of warm weather's taken its toll on their hides, but Tesco own-brand body lotion came to the rescue. Needless to say, you lot had a bit of fun thinking up beauty products and routine's for some of the zoo's other incumbents.

Cathspyjamas had a couple of witty suggestions: “Mario Badescu drying cream for the leopards, if for no other reason than to prove conclusively that a leopard will not change its spots,” was one, and she added in the humdinger, “L’Oreal products for the peacocks, cos they just know they’re worth it”

Roxette was more concerned about matters hirsute: “I'd love to see the sheep in Pets Corner treated to some Frizz Ease and a GHD session,” was her smart suggestion.

And it seems it's not just me who has a desk drawer stuffed full of crap, as we all spilled the beans on Friday's What do you Keep in Your Desk post.  Items as random as shoes, Berocca and Benylin are all taking up space in your offices, but Kitty in the City went one further to make sure her clutter had a secondary function: “I forgot hairspray. Doubles as a fly killer,” she revealed. Handy!

Some of us shuddered at the news that Irish researchers have identified a mite as the root cause of rosacea. "Ah ha, so this is why my skin feels like it is crawling," exclaimed Rachelanne, with hipntrendy declaring "egads - I think I would have rather been left in the dark about this ladies." Oops  - our apologies, but we're on a mission to bring you all the latest and greatest beauty developments, no matter how gross they may be. It's our sworn duty, don'cha know?

Wednesday's chance to win tickets to the forthcoming Lynx Brazilian Beach Party proved too much for a couple of you eagle eyed Beaut.ies, who were able to find (a small) fault with the gorgeous Elle Liberachi: "Em… has anyone else noticed that poor ol’ Elle’s makeup is about 3 shades lighter than the rest of her body?," wondered Back to Blonde, with Cherryred enthusiastically agreeing. "THANK YOU! I didn’t want to be the first to say it!," she exclaimed.

Just proves Ms Liberachi is as human as the rest of us, something I was disputing given her long legs, flowing locks and bodacious bod. Phew.

The biggest surprise of the week though, came from Gitterkitty, a vocal long-time hater  of all things Bobbi Brown. In Wednesday's post about office-appropriate lip-wear, she was (almost) stunned into silence: "Shock!," she exclaimed. "I actually like the BB lip gloss, second from the left!"

It's all part of our dastardly plan, Ms GK: soon, verrrryyyy soon, we will win you over to the Beige Side.
