AW09/10: Chanel’s Venice Collection

By | August 6 2009 | 16 Comments

Ah you should never expect the expected from the Mssrs at Chanel – Karl’s bound to say something completely outrageous, they’ll get Lily Allen in to hoike herself about for something or other and then they they’ll decide to go into the manufacture of Incredibly Expensive Bicycles, so I suppose I shouldn’t be too alarmed that the star of the new Autumn / Winter collection is … an eye gloss.

Yep. Much maligned, this particular item is one I’m keen to try and it’s making a splash in the Venice collection.  Inspired by Madame’s love of the place, apparently – according to the press release – “the very first time she experienced this unparalleled city, she knew that she had found a place of inspiration. A magnificent city, built on the water, exuding power and creativity…”

That’ll explain the eye gloss, so.

Fancy a dekko at some more of the products as well as a full list of what’ll be on counter from August 21st? Check after the cut.

Above is the  eye gloss again, as well as one of the Le Vernis nail varnishes in Gondola and what appears to be a Levres Scintillante, but it’s not mentioned in the press kit, so I’m not 100% if it’s going to be on counter here. I’ll put my detective pork-pie hat on and find out.

In the meantime, here’s a listing of what will be on offer, including Chanel’s lovely eye quads, lipstick, nail polish and blush.

ooo! i’m liking the quad and the nail varnish shown… but hello, 51 eurobucks for an eye gloss? zut alors!

  • Principessa says:

    That eye quad looks divine!

  • Glamazon says:

Looks lovely but €51 is a lot for something that you might only use occasionally but maybe that’s just me and others would use this all this time.

  • sweetie1 says:

Loving the look of the eye gloss, especially the colour on the model – it is v expensive though…whats the betting bourgois will have it in their Christmas collection though – think I’ll hold out for that!

  • Princess Lisa says:

  • Renee says:

  • Yellowbelly says:

That nail polish is calling out to me! fabe colour!

  • Kirstie says:

surely that should be, le sigh?

  • Beauty Junkie says:

The Gondola nail polish looks fabulous!!! Only thing with Chanel polishes is they seem to chip very easily, still love the colours though. Can’t eait to see Coco avant Chanel

  • ivicia says:

I do like the colour of the varnish but swore I’d never buy a chanel nail varnish because of the chipping.

The idea of eye gloss is not grabbing at all – doesn’t sound very nice.

  • KellBell says:

    What’s a Praline D’Or when it’s at home?

  • Principessa says:

Slightly aside tho’ Chanel connected – I was passing the Chanel counter in the Arnotts in Jervis a few weeks back and asked for a sample of the new Allure Homme that was advertised on the radio.

The SA said “we’ve none left” which I took to mean, not for you missy, (granted I was in a hurry and a bit scruffy looking) Then she proved me wrong by adding “I do have a mascara sample I could give you” – you could have knocked me down with a feather as she produced a big’ish sample of Exceptionnel and when I asked her about foundation ( so many of you seem to rave about it) she gave me another two samples to try AND invited me back to have a make up application and as she said “go away and see if you like it on” i.e. no pressure to buy there and then!! This is the best service I’ve ever received from a random Dublin SA, ever, did I say EVER already. I’m only sorry I can’t remember her name, but I think she was the more senior SA – nice hair – a kind of a modern, casual bee hive, type style. If I’m buying any Chanel I know where I will definitely be getting it.

Sorry for the long post, but praise where it is due.

  • Kirstie says:

    wow, sounds fab!

  • Pinky says:

the big R has done wonders for customer service eh? ah well, you’re right about praise where it’s due. we’re so quick to complain…

  • Dobby says:

Oh that nail varnish is gorgeous – also love the make up on the model.

  • Minkey says:

I was in Tesco in Rathfarnham this evening checking out the new Barbara Daly make up stand, which is a bit bare already but I did find a gorgeous nail varnish in the colour Shock which is a dead ringer for the Gondola varnish in this collection.
