The Dublin Writers Festival kicks off on the 11th, and the programme is packed full of treats like an audience with Ian Rankin and Colin Bateman (which I excitedly bought tickets for ages ago, only to have just copped on that I won't even be here next weekend, sigh. No finding out about Rebus' secrets for me, so), as well as events, workshops and retrospectives of the careers of literary heavy-weights like JP Donleavey.
One event in particular that may well be of interest to you beaut.ies is the Kathy Lette Brunch, taking place in Dublin's Morrison Hotel on Saturday 14th. Lette is a well-known comedienne and writer and is known for her funny and poignant books like Dead Sexy, Foetal Attraction, Girls' Night Out and Nip 'N' Tuck, all of which barrel along nicely. So it's a dead-cert that she'd be a bit of a laugh to have an auld cupan tae o'toole and a sticky bun with - am I right?
I am of course, and FOUR of you lucky lasses will get a chance to win a pair of tickets - worth €14 each - to the event, where you and a friend will be treated to a, "high-fibre, calorie controlled (yeah right!) Dublin Writers Festival brunch".
