On Friday you got a snippet of the new direction Benefit is taking and a good idea of what Crescent Row is promising. But I had more fish to fry at the launch, and once Jean and Jane had done their presentation thang (which included the pair of them giving us a vocal treat in the form of an expert a capella-style rendition of how the new concept came about), I got to sit down with the twins and ask them a question or ten.
Accompanied by the new generation of Benefit sister in the form of Jean's twenty-something daughters Maggie and Annie Ford Danielson, we plunged straight in with my prepared wishlist of Beaut.ie readers' fantasy Benefit product ideas.
Tiddles was keen to know would the brand branch out into glitter? "No," said Maggie, explaining that "it's not really Benefit, it's more a rocky, edgy thing which is the opposite of our natural approach."
Grand so - what about the other big Beaut.ie want, more liquid foundations? The entire table, barring myself, recoiled in horror.

Oh dear! Turns out they don't like liquid base at all, and I was cringing a little inside my Diorskin Nude liquid foundation-ed face. But I soon felt better, as it seems it's just that it doesn't fit their aesthetic, which is all about enhancing beauty, rather than covering it up in a blanket of product. The Benefit gals hate the mask-effect liquid base can have, and they prefer a much lighter result, which you can get from their Playsticks or their oil-free compacts.
Roxette's Benebaby was the next suggestion I put to them."Oh yeah, I like that - think how well they'd go down at baby showers" mused Jane. Would they consider a product like Tocca's infant perfume, I queried? "No", was the thankfully unanimous answer, but Jean did suggest that baby products could be scented to smell like milk. Girls, I think it's a goer.
Flutterati, a suggestion for a lash-enhancing mascara, got the thumbs up. "Love it!", exclaimed Jean.
Bountiful, another Roxette suggestion for a coconut scented body product, was swiftly dismissed on the grounds that everyone hated the smell of coconuts. I was with them on that, so we moved swiftly on to Striptease, a fantasy suggestion for a kit that would contain all you'd need for a perfect nude look. Conspiratorial smiles went round the table. Yep, you've guessed it. They've done it, it's called Celebutant, and it's going to be in-coming round about October 09.
Nails were the next subject broached. Jane showed me her Essie mani and we all ooh-ed and aahed over that brands' excellent colour range for a bit, before the twins revealed that lacquer is a product that's definitely on their minds for Benefit. Watch this space - it seems we might be getting some news on that front soon.
