Is Ink On The Way Back In?

Kelly Osbourne may be undergoing laser surgery to get rid of hers, but tattoos were well-represented on the runways at New York Fashion Week. Ok, ok, so they weren't created with the aid of a skin piercing needle, but it was fierce tribal beauty all the way for Rodarte and Catherine Malandrino, where models sported "sleeves" and "chokers" of Maori-inspired geometric body art.

At Rodarte, it took 40 artists four hours to get the models painted up with a temporary pitch-black silicone pigment.

And you thought it took you ages to get ready in the mornings.

According to Chantel Miller, a senior artist at MAC who co-created the look for Rodarte, “The idea for the tattoos stemmed from [their] desire to celebrate makeup as art not only for the face, but also for the body in a similar way that Indian culture uses henna. They want women to look at makeup as an accessory for an outfit the way you would a bracelet or a necklace.”

Mmm.

What think ye?
