Clothes shopping is a favourite activity of ours...
...the thing is, it can get so very expensive. We're trying our best to curb our spending but when a new season comes around it takes so much bloody effort to refrain.
This year, we're taking trends the trends that we like (which is ALL OF THEM!) but being selective about what we buy. We're sticking to the high street too, because if any of these babies leave planet fashion we won't be kicking ourselves for spending the big bucks.
Carry on now, for our picks of the trendiest duds for the season ahead.
Faux Fur
You need a bit of faux fur during autumn and winter. You just do.
We've come across heaps of beautiful coats with fur lining which is obviously a great way to add the trend to your winter wardrobe but for us, it's all about the stole.
Fur stoles were draped across many the model on the AW15 catwalks and we'll be following suit and punctuating every one of our cold weather ensembles with something like this guy from New Look.
New Look, Black and Grey Fur Stole €24.99
Tassles
No, we are not talking tassles of the nipple swinging variety, we're talking tassles of the fringe variety (because they're pretty much the same thing, no?) Tassles are very festival, but they are being transported to autumn wear this season.
Sometimes pieces of dangling material can be a bit much though (especially if everyone is wearing some on the Copper's dancefloor - can you imagine the almighty tangle?) so if you don't want to go all out on the trend, accessory it.
Bags are the way to go and we can see this one from Oasis being our bag of the season.
Oasis, €28
A-Line Skirt
Still sticking with the '70s trend, an a-line skirt should be the one to buy if you're only buying a single skirt this season. Again, this style is universally flattering - just be careful with length. Your skirt should be just above the knee or mid-length, anywhere in between looks - ironically - dated.
You will see loads of denim button-down a-line skirts around and that style is a great choice as a jeans alternative. The skirt we've featured is suedette which gives another nod to the '70s and tackles a different AW15 trend (which is suede of course!) at the same time.
Oasis, €47
Flares
You know it, I know it, the post man knows it - flares are THE pant of the season. There's going to be some people who resist them but you're not going to be one of those people...are you?
Seriously, they are not as scary (or hideous) as they may seen and they are much more flattering than you may think; just get the dimensions right and you're on the right track. This season, a slight flare will do, which is good news as this style balances out the leg - a heel hidden underneath helps with this too.
They don't have to be blue denim either. This pair from River Island - which are actually boot cut but that's a good way to get a feel for them - could potentially be right for work (style with a pussy bow blouse!) and they could replace your go-to skinnies for nights out.
River Island, €55
Pussy Bow Blouse
Speaking of prim blouses, they don't have to be white but they do have to be in your wardrobe. The '70s has emerged as the biggest trend of the season, probably because it's so easy to do and many of the '70s inspired pieces are flattering too.
The pussy bow blouse was once reserved for the 9 - 5 day but now it can totally be sexed up and worn whenever you like. Pair a lighter coloured pussy bow blouse tucked into a leather or suede black mini skirt or wear a sheer shirt, like the one above, with skinny flared jeans.
Pussy Bow Blouse, Penneys, €13
Culottes
Whether you're for or against these grown-up lady Bermuda shorts, they're going nowhere! They can be worn by anyone; if you're not sure about them or how to style them, imagine them first as a midi skirt and think about what you would wear with that.
There will be plenty of winter culottes in wool and tweed doing the rounds soon, but a denim pair will make the transition from summer to autumn a little easier to bear. Wear them with a Breton tee and platform (or flat!) espadrilles until it gets too chilly and autumn them up with a cable knit top or prim white blouse and tan heels.
This pair from River Island costs €50.
Fancy Tickled?
Anything here tickle your fancy? Or are you horrified by the AW15 trends and can't wait till summer rolls round once more?
