Apart from a raincoat*, the shacket is the only outerwear answer to Ireland's unpredictable summer weather
It took me way too long to figure out what a shacket is. But, in the great tradition of fashion portmanteaux - jeggings, the coatigan, etc., etc. - this code is pretty easy to solve. It's a shirt and a jacket in one, and it's here to solve your summer chill needs.
Summer time in Ireland is a curious place. Tourists bring their luggage over on mules because of all the weather options they have to contend with. (Luckily, when it's sunny, they can run into Penneys for their shorts and t-shirt fix). Irish residents can get shafted by the weather too, though, and even when it's a scorcher of a day, there's no guarantee that it will stay warm in the evening.
The average temperature in Ireland during summer is 16 degrees. But while people from countries with real summers will be forced to wear fur coats when they visit, it's too warm for us to wear a jacket. But too chilly for nothing but a long-sleeved top. The answer is, of course, the shacket. They're generally khaki in colour (but can be denim) and utilitarian in design. Here's where you can get the coolest ones.
