How do you spend your Christmas Day? Do you dress up, dress comfily or stay in your pyjamas all day?
I prefer to combine a mix: a skirt with tights, no shoes, a fancy jumper and my pyjama top underneath so getting ready for bed after a day or eating and drinking is easier. Just kidding! (Or am I?)
Tradition solves the Christmas Day dressing dilemma. If you and your family have always just stuck on a Christmassy jumper to match your cracker hats, that's that. If you all choose a special Christmas Day outfit that requires time and effort, that's also that. But what if your tradition changes? What if this year you're spending Christmas with the in-laws, or you're going to a hotel. The best formula for such situations is a healthy combination. Go cosy, but chic.
Easier said than read, I know. So that's where I come in.
I suggest knits, boots (or better still, flats) and accessories; you can wear anything and make it Christmas appropriate with a sparkly brooch or dangly earrings. Last year, I bought one of those Christmas charm necklaces from H&M. My C-Day embellish was a golden deer head. Sorry, Dasher.
If you want to buy a new outfit, choose pieces that you'll wear again. This knit dress from iClothing (€30) will go a long way.

The reason I suggest boots is that heels might be a tad much. There's no need when you're just over at your brother's house. But then again, if you're not sure what style everyone else will be going for, a boot with a heel is a good option.
