Remember a couple of years ago the kimono came back? Well, it hasn't gone away. In fact, it's the It Piece of the season ahead.
I bought a jacket length kimono-style top in Topshop a few years ago. I hesitated before buying because it was trendy at the time and at the time I bought it, I was afraid of looking like a has-been. Instead, it's been one of those sales buys that one brags about to one's friends, such is the number of occasions I've had to break it out. Besides, I have a technical glitch in my brain that requires me to buy everything I even quarter-like in the sales. You should have seen me in Zara this summer. I was like a hoover.
I will wear my kimono top again, but I'll have to buy another for AW17 because next season, it should be full-length and fancy. The current fad for pyjama style clothes extends to semi-outerwear this autumn - and all the It girls know it. I've spotted quite a few fashionable ladies in Dublin sashaying around the place in what I'm calling the 2017 version of the smoking jacket (vaping jacket?).
