Last week, the Minister for Justice Frances Fitzgerald signed the commencement order for the Marriage Act 2015, meaning that same sex couple can start serving notice of their intent to marry from today.
Those who previously entered into Civil Partnerships can also get married now if they so wish. Those who got married abroad will now see their unions recognised in Ireland.

Last May, 62% of the voting populace votes a resounding YES to same sex marriage. In the last six months, approximately 187 same-sex couples have registered to be married.
