On a clear night in Donegal, it's possible to catch a glimpse of one of nature's most stunning sights, aurora borealis.
While it's not as clear as it might be further north on the planet, it can be seen by the naked eye if you're able to stay awake until the requisite hours of the morning. Photographer Rónán McLaughlin from Donegal was up to that task last night, and managed to capture a stunning image of the natural phenomenon, which he posted to Twitter this morning.
Good Morning #ireland when you were sleeping, this was happening at #malinhead #inishowen #donegal #aurora pic.twitter.com/K29S08rUP5

Ireland can look pretty great sometimes, it has to be said.
