Reconnect with old friends
Feeling anxious and unhappy is a reasonable reaction if you don't have the support of friends around you. People who are depressed tend to isolate themselves and feel like things are worse than they actually are. Are you still in touch with your friends from school? Maybe it's time for a reunion or even a skype chat.
Make new connections
To make friends you need to reach out and not be afraid to put yourself out there. See if there are any societies or college activities you could join because spending too much time brooding on problems isn't healthy. Just be friendly! A smile goes a long way.
Have an honest chat with your mother
Don't hide your feelings from your mother for fear of disappointing her. Tell her what you told me. She should care far more for your well being than your marks. You mentioned you've had a history of depression, which makes it very important to look after yourself. You must be mindful that stressful situations may be a trigger. It's possible you may be entering into a period of depression again.

College Support
Your college will have a counselling service for students and you can find out about it from the Students Union, Student Services or the college website. They are there to help and I recommend you find someone to talk to about this as soon as possible. No matter how unhappy you are now, I can guarantee you that things will improve and sharing your problems will be a huge relief.
Most importantly, don't be afraid to ask for help.
