I've read about this before but an article in todays Sunday Tribune jogged my memory and I thought it was a good one to share. The idea behind the diet plate is remarkably simple and it's based on portion sizes. The plate is divided up into sections and you're not allowed to eat any more of a particular foodstuff than will fit into its section. We don't really seem to have a concept of portion sizes any more, but it might surprise you to know that a portion of meat is equivalent to a deck of playing cards, and a portion of cheese should correspond to a matchbox. Looking at it like that, it's easy to see how much extra most of us routinely eat, and how easy is is to put on weight as a result.

You can buy the diet plate online and it'll cost you about €42 with VAT and shipping, which is pricey, but then, if it helps shift those extra pounds you've been wanting gone for years, it will be well worth it.
