We think that smoking is a truly yukky habit. It's bad for your skin, your hair, your overall life for God's sake!
Some people claim that e-cigarettes are substantially less harmful than normal cigarettes and say that it is a method for quitting smoking, while others believe it's simply a cheaper way of smoking.
Nevertheless, vaping has become increasingly popular in Ireland - especially in the wake of tax hikes on normal cigarettes. As it stands currently, a pack of cigarettes will usually cost in and around €10 whilst one tub of nicotine liquid will typically cost €4.50. Quite the difference.
But now, the Seanad has drafted a bill which will see vaping regulated in a manner similar to smoking. The bill, introduced by Fianna Fail's Averil Power and independent Senator Dr. John Crowne, will see the sale of e-cigarettes banned to anyone under 18.
It will also ban vaping in public places and workplaces and a ban on advertising or sponsorship from companies that sell vaping / e-cigarettes.

Furthermore, the bill also wants to introduce a ban on using e-cigarettes in a vehicle where there are persons under the age of 18 and an introduction of child-proof caps on vaping liquid bottles.
As yet, no provisions have been made for taxation on e-cigarettes, although speculation is rife that taxation will be soon be introduced.
Lobbyist group Forest Eireann has warned the government against 'over-regulation', however Fianna Fail's Averil Power says that the World Health Organisation has raised concerns.
What do you think? Are e-cigs just as bad as 'traditional' cigs? Should vaping be treated the same as smoking? Let us know in the comments!
