The 54-year-old, brought Minka for "a very pricey" birthday meal to celebrate her turning 35. TMZ sources clocked the pair at "Thomas Keller's elite eatery The French Laundry in Napa, California."

Soooooo, how did they meeeeeeet?! According to Us Weekly the pair met "at a benefit the actor threw for his Haiti relief organization J/P HRO." Seemingly the pair enjoyed their first dinner together in a double date setting, so it wasn't just Minka and Penn celebrating her birthday alone.

Minka, who is best known for her role in US TV show Friday Night Lights has dated fellow thesp Chris Evans in the past, while Penn makes no secret of his penchant for actresses having previously had relationships with Robin Wright, Scarlett Johansson and Theron. He was also married to Madonna, a course.
