Room to Improve returned last night and Twitter had a field day

Dermot Bannon returned for another 'will they/won't they' architecture series last night. It usually starts like most rom-coms, Bannon meets client, they really click! Make such great plans together, but the client usually has some baggage that gets in their way, you really think things are going to fall apart for them. However, in the final moments, everything comes together beautifully, and the client lives happily ever after.

What can we say though? There is lot to be said for the familiarity of that narrative structure, especially of a grim Sunday.

Last night, Dermot was in the north Dublin suburb of Malahide where he helped a couple transform a 1940s cottage into their dream home. As usual, it didn't come without its problems, as Dermot had his own ideas for a pristine white kitchen that the couple didn't go with in the end, and honestly, it's the closest we think it's ever come to poor aul Dermo just crying on screen.

There was also a brand new quantity surveyor working on the show called Lisa O'Brien, who seemed lovely and all, but what about the straight-talking Patricia? Turns out, she wanted to take a break from the show to "prioritise a young family and the work-life balance".

Fair enough, we reckon Lisa's up for the task.

As usual, Twitter was the place to be during the show's first episode of the season, and you lot proved to be as witty as ever, with comments on everything from to the cost of the walls to that gigantic house number painted on their new home along with some tricky math problems along the way.
