Sky News journalist David Blevins probably thought that his joke tweet about three women, including Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, Northern Ireland First Minister Arlene Foster and UTV journalist Tracy Magee, wearing the same suit would be harmless enough and would go virtually unnoticed. Perhaps he thought that it might attract the odd like or retweet but we seriously doubt he expected a response from any of the women in question.
They're all in on it. First Ministers and journalist are sharing a wardrobe! @DUPleader @NicolaSturgeon @Tracey_utv pic.twitter.com/7hogXZsmPx

How wrong he was.
Nicola Sturgeon picked up on the tweet and had the perfect response.
@skydavidblevins oh no, male journalist and male politician wear same suit!! :-) pic.twitter.com/9ot0J2WsTi

Our own Aodhan O'Riordan, was bemused as to how he ended up becoming entwined in the exchange.
Well that was unexpected.... https://t.co/2ZF9rqKSJX

But Sturgeon was quick to let him know that it was nothing personal. And that he has a lovely suit.

@AodhanORiordain @skydavidblevins sorry Aodhan - yours was first (and nicest) photo I found. And it is a nice suit! Hope you are well!

Blevins was amused to have caused an International incident.
Well that's the last fashion report I do. It appears to have sparked an international incident. 😂#JacketGate pic.twitter.com/ixPUv98qQL

But also relieved that Sturgeon saw the funny side of his remark.
@skydavidblevins thanks for a good natured exchange. All in good humour!

I'm glad Scotland's First Minister took my comments as they were intended! #JacketGate https://t.co/Wr8fATUeAb
